I think the point here is to get the video to the second TV in HD. That is currently not an option.

Technically you could wire two HD TV's from the TV1 output (1 using HDMI, the other using component) to get HD on 2 TV's. I think the bigger issue is not just to get video to the second TV in HD, but to get HD to any TV in the house, independently of what other TV's are doing.

The ideal (or close to ideal) situation would be if every TV in the house could access any program on any DVR in the house, with all recorded programming, from all devices appearing in a common, easy to navigate catalog/menu. Recording would be just as simple - pick a program and the system would automatically determine which DVR has the available slot, the most space, etc. and set the timer from there.

With the 320gb drive in the latest Cisco DVR, it was able to store about 40-45 hours of HD (due to the Uverse over compression). For most, Uverse TV is a great solution. For the hardcore, it does not come close.

Dish does need to network the DVRs and allow you to share recordings to all rooms in the house. Yes, most people may not have the infrastructure to handle this but most do have RG59/RG6 from most rooms to a central location. There is no reason HPNA could not be used. HPNA 3.1 supports up to 320mbit/s over coax. Plenty to stream content around the house via the already in place infrastructure.
