DishDVR Advantage

It's really not confusing if you want HD. You start at $49.99, and add $20 for HD. Everything else you add is $10.

If you don't want HD, there are a couple other stipulations...HBO is $2 more in some combinations, and there are some combinations you just can't get.

You didn't say what movies you have in the value pak, that could make a difference with some combinations. BUT, the bill you are quoting is old. There is no Top180 or Movie Value Pack anymore. I believe you'll find your next bill is $5+tax higher...about $102.77.

DVR Advantage would be either $96.43 or possibly as high as $98.55, depending on your movie packs.

I've never leased, so I don't know how that works. I didn't know you had to pay a lease fee AND a DVR fee on a leased DVR. If you can get them to trade in your 625 for a 622, I think you would just add the standard $20+tax for HD programming.

Where are you living that you have to pay 6% tax on satellite? *&%! that! :)

The bill I quoted was my last bill. I just got my latest bill today.

It shows:
Top 250 with locals = 57.99
DVR service fees (2 DVRs) = 11.96
Lease = 5
2 Premiums = 22
Total (w/tax) = 102.77

I don't know which two premiums I now have. I had HBO and some deal they gave me a while ago that was supposed to be $3 more for life.

Just checked. I've got HBO and Cinemax.

This came with a letter of a price increase ($3). But if you add the $3 (+ tax) to the last bill, the new bill should be $100.65, not $102.57

I'm gonna attempt to call them to see if the DVR advantage will help me out.

Just got off the phone with Lisa (in CO) and changed to the DVR Advantage package.

I ended up with:

DVR Advantage Top 250 with locals, 1 extra DVR fee, 1 lease fee, 2 premiums and autopay.

Total is now $92.97 + tax = $98.55

Old bill (w/tax) was $102.77

Savings - $4.22/month

I was curious how much they wanted to charge for Dishin It Up and they said for a 625 DVR it was $149 and a 622 HD DVR it was $179 and that was to lease them. They said DVR Advantage would not get me free receiver since I am already a sub, could only use my existing ones to get the deal. I do annual so I I have a better deal anyways than what the DVR Advantage would be. I got locked in the annual price before the $3 increase so I am saving even more. $550 for annual AT250 charged a month or two ago.

Now that I can see my statement online I am ready to look into the DVR Advantage again (after the mess I went thru at the start of Feb, I must be crazy).

I am on the AEP plan with HD and locals and have 2 leased 622 receivers. My current monthly charges are 126.84 (includes tax)

I would like the DVR Advantage with the 250 option, plus HD, plus HBO and Starz.
Is this how that would look if both receivers are connected to landlines?
Dish DVR Advantage 49.99
HD 20.00
250+HBO+Starz 30.00
2nd 622 receiver fee 6.00
Total 105.99(plus tax)

I believe 250+HBO+Starz would be 32.00 (HBO is $2 more)

I have HBO+Cinemax and it's 22.00 on my bill

You will have a DVR fee for the second 622.

After reading this thread, I decided to order DvrAdvantage + HD + the 250 bonus pak, hoping that it should cost me $79.99 @ month. Nobody, my installation company here nor the CSR's in wherever + India, could come up with those numbers. So today I went back to my installation company and just asked for DVRAdvantage + HD for $69.99 @ month. I figure I'll call after installation and add the 250 bonus pak.
John in India last nite told me I wouldn't have the 18 month contract as long as I kept auto pay. I do pay $149-50 = $99 for the dvr, but also get $10 @ month for 10 months credit to my bill. This nets out to $0. I do think I'll be hit with the $6 @ month lease fee for the DVR, but I'll gripe about that when I call for the 250 pak.
Sheesh, after reading this thread, it appears that most or all of their customers understand the DVRAdvantage package, but none of the CSR's.
I may keep calling them to learn doubletalk, ignorance, and pig latin, and open up my own satellite tv company. But I'll have my CSR's here in Texas and really screw folks up, 'cause our english ain't quite english.

There was some confusion on whether the dhpp was included or not initially with the dvr advantage plan, but according to their site, it is for 18 months:

http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/whats_on_dish/programming_packages/dda/index.shtml

says:
Free Standard Professional Installation
• No equipment to buy
• 18 months FREE DishHOME Protection Plan Learn More

I don't see that on your link. Isn't that for new customers? It would be great if it were for existing customers as well.

Its right there in the first link.... yes, for new customers, since it's referring to free installation, and under that is the 18 months protection plan inclusion.

Got a response from CEO. Here is the main part:

Thanks for the email. I would like to apologize for any miss information that was given to you by our customer service reps. here are the qualifications to be eligible for the DVR Advantage promotion.
- Subscribed to the Top200
- Subscribed to the local channels
- CCA (credit card auto pay)
- A fee based DVR active on your account

Here is the pricing breakdown for the programming you mentioned in your email.
- $49.99 DVR Advantage
- $20.00 DISH HD
- $10.00 Top250
- $20.00 Two premium movie packages
- $5.98 DVR fee for the 2nd 622
- $6.00 lease fee for the 2nd 622

Total monthly charges before tax = $111.97. If you remain with the Americas Everything package you would get much more programming for just a small amount more per month. I hope that this helps clear everything up. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Bigdaddy65 was right about the DVR fee. This would have made a lot more sense if I just had the one DVR. It would have given me everything I really want for under 100 per month. My wife gets good use of the second 622. No sense my whining about that.

So, approx 15 dollar savings going to the DVR Advantage. Wouldn't miss Showtime HD that much. IF Cinemax HD ever makes it to Dish I'd watch it too. For the time being, I guess I'll just leave things as they are.

I hate the fact that they charge a DVR fee per DVR where Directv charges per account. The savings on the dual tuner additional outlet fees make up for that though and if you have AEP then your saving that much more.

If I am a current subscriber and upgrade to the DVRadvantage, will I be able to self install? If not, would I have to pay for the installer or would that fee be waived?

Thanks guys.

When you subscribe to the DVRadvantage, the installation is included. As a current subscriber you only pay the upfront cost of 149.00 with a 50.00 mail-in rebate. Plus the $5.98 a month lease.

I know as I am getting the ViP 622 installed today. :)

How does Dish usually deal with recalcitrant locals?
