Dish Vip 211 to be installed tomorrow

"Having a 411 now seems much better than being in line for months waiting for a Vip211."

That's a very good observation considering that the Ethernet port is for "future use". Knowing Dish who knows how long it will be before they turn it on.

I did speak with the installer. He called to confirm the installation. He said that it may be up to two months before he gets any 211's.

I called the local company that would be coming out if I placed and order. Asked if they had any 211's in stock. They had no idea what it was. Came back and told me it was a old out of production receiver....:(

Need to make sure you refer to it as VIP211 HD receiver.

When I called my retailer/installer, I had to mention MPEG4, they had not clue what the vip was.

It makes one wonder if these guys have any interest in following product developments. You would think that if your job/career were installing Dish products, you would keep up on them. It is sort of like the CSRs, though. Most of them apparently did not watch the Charlie Chat. I would have made that required viewing for all employees.

Well, if their boss is like my old boss, employees not doing something that brings in revenue (short sighted) now are doing him no good. Do reading on your own time if you want to stay up on products and technology. God forbid I did some research online or read a trade magazine and wasn't billing someone for it.

942 to a 211
