Or they will have to save the space for 4K lite, causing them not to get us our fully uncompressed 720/1080 picture.
You will never see uncompressed digital except maybe in the studio, ALL broadcast digital is compressed.Or they will have to save the space for 4K lite, causing them not to get us our fully uncompressed 720/1080 picture.

Closest thing would be a master network feed from C/Ku-Band.You will never see uncompressed digital except maybe in the studio, ALL broadcast digital is compressed.
It's your TV.After reading this thread, I did a little experiment with my Hopper. I tried all 4 resolution settings and seen zero difference in picture quality. Is my TV doing a good job of up converting , do these settings matter or am I losing my vision?
What TV do you have and how far do you sit from? I set mine to 480i just for fun, and the even the menu looks instantly horrible lol .After reading this thread, I did a little experiment with my Hopper. Vizio does not have a good converter for interlaced, specifically referenced in a Cnet review of an otherwise good review of their entry level M series.I had an interesting experience the other night, ever since I have had this Vizio 4K UHDTV delivered I have had my Dish receiver set to 1080i resolution,so the other night I decided to try the 720p resolution setting.
Dish receivers do not have a native pass through and that one feature that I like, when I changed the resolution to 720p the colors in the picture came alive.
Now maybe the reason might be that going to a progressive resolution from an interlaced resolution made the 4K upconversion easier, but what ever the reason I will leave my Dish receiver's resolution setting at 720p for the 4K upconversion.
Just imagine how long it will be before the cablecos get on board with 4K to their customers.Dish & Direct don't want to be even further behind.
That is surprising ! They are usually so slow on set-top technology.Comcast is coming out with their 4K box in January. (I know someone who is testing it)

Makes sense, with Comcast being Dethrowned as the largest TV provider in the US.If you have a Samsung 4K TV there is a Comcast App and if you log in with your comcast account they have a lot of 4K content available. Comcast is going to make a HUGE push for 4K.
