dish remote code

Just got dish network and I'm unable to program the remote to work my samsung HT-DS610 A/v receiver. being the A/V receiver usually controls the volume, it would be nice if I could find the code. I switched from directv and with the directv remote I was able to operate the receiver.

Turn Receiver Off, then try

With my receiver, the remote turns it on but not off. It will do the volume and mute button also. So if you're checking the codes by trying to turn it off, you might not be able to do that, so I would try to check the codes by turning it on.

Tried the codes with the unit on and still couldn't make it work. Thanks for the suggestion.
