Dish Network - Incompetence or Ignorance - Trying to get a HD 622 receiver order

Subject: Incompetence or Ignorance ?

This is getting way out of whack. I've been a dish network customer for a few years now and am appalled to see the incompetence or ignorance your company has come to represent. Here is my wonderful story...

Feb 01, 2006 - HD available, wow... call in to get myself the HD receiver 622. Charged $299 and was told that it will take 7 weeks for an installation

~ Feb 15, 2006 - Call Dish again and am told that it will $99 come April 01,2006 and was suggested that I can cancel the current order - so I do it given that the time of installation is just 1 week before Apr 01 2006.

Apr 01, 2006 - Call Dish Network to place order for 622 HD receiver. Was told it still costs $299, only $99 related to previous HD receiver owners. Wondered why I was told to cancel in the first place. But placed the order anyway. Told shipment to be in 8-10 business days and an appt. set for Apr 18, 2006

Apr 13, 2006 - I call to ask for the tracking number for my shipment and the first person I talk to says that it has not been shipped as of yet because, at the time of order, I was not asked to go to an automated system which confirmed my order. 3 phone calls later, with the same recommendation that I have heard, I get dropped off when I am being transferred to the IVR (lousy automated system). Finally when operator Maggie, I get connected to the IVR - which promptly tells me that I am not recognized in that system and am disconnected. That's when things get interesting - Operator Sinai, tells me the same story - then helps me get disconnected. On my 7th call within the hour, Anna tells me that I don't need to go to the system and she does not know where the package is. I ask her to connect me to her supervisor Shane who gives me the story that Anna kindly gives me. She connects me to the automated system at my insistence and the automated system promptly throws me out saying that I am not recognized.

So, Dish Network took my money promptly with no receiver in sight - Anyone else close to getting involved in a real scam of this proportion

Yes. Dish is all about scamming people. From what I'm told, every customer they've ever had has been scammed. In fact, they really aren't transmitting video to anybody's home. The receivers we have hooked up to our TV's are actually brain manipulation devices that make people believe they're watching TV when, in fact, they are not.

The installers that come out to our homes are actually holographs.

Hmmm....guess I should chose between the red or the blue pill? :p
 
I am not sure if "technical support" can help either. They were the ones who told me that I needed to go the automated system - The "sales support" team said I did not.

They definitely don't talk to each other!

Yes, it is a nightmare trying to talk to the CSRs at Dish. I had an installation scheduled for April 11th, so I called on the Tuesday before the appointment to make sure the I would have the receiver in time. I was told that I would have it on Wednesday or Thursday. Friday came and still no receiver, so I called and was told that the receiver had a scheduled delivery date of Monday. Monday came and no receiver and my install was the next day. So, I called and was told that my receiver was delivered a day before I ordered it to Arizona. Then, the CSR said they were mistaken after I pointed this out and gave me a tracking number which was supposed to be for my shipment. I tried to track it while I had the CSR on the phone and it was the tracking number for that same shipment to Arizona. Then, the CSR put me on hold for a while and came back and said my reciever had been sent on April the 8th. I asked for a tracking number, but the CSR was unable to get one. I said that I was very skeptical of any information they give me about shipping anything without a tracking number since they never give me true answers. Was a dead end, I just had to hope the receiver had been sent. The CSR said that a tracking number should show up in their system within the next few days. So, I tried calling the next day, the day of my installation and was told that they didn't think the receiver was actually sent. Then, after must holding, they said they did think it was sent. After an hour of waiting, they finally had a tracking number for me. They had sent the receiver on April 10th by 2-Day Air for a scheduled delivery of April 12th. Next, it's time for UPS to screw me up. They fail to deliver the package to me on April 12th. I call them and complain and had to set up to meet the UPS driver across town to get the receiver I needed in the morning so that I could make my re-scheduled appointment for April 13th. I then waited for the Dish instaler to come to my house to make a phone call which he did (I hooked everything up before he got there), and now I am up and running.
 
Update:

Apr 13, 2006 - 4pm PST - After 84 minutes of being on the line with Dish Network, I've been told that the work order was goofed up in the first place that caused these issues and the system will not permit changing the work order. In order to create a new work order, they will have to lose my current appt. set for Apr 18, 2006. Now, they believe they have fixed the work order with a new appointment date of May 12, 2006. The story gets nicer - The dish network technician is now supposed to bring the receiver at the time of installation. Sweet deal ain't it. I'm just so close to calling my credit card company and complaining to them what a bunch of jokers I am dealing with.

BTW, any body have email address of Charlie so I can send him a link to this wonderful thread !
 
I called DishNetwork about the ViP 622 DVR to replace two 301 receivers. This would require purchasing the HD package which I currently do not have. I was told that I could purchase a ViP 622 DVR for $798 and that a lease option was not available. The information came from an individual in Technical Support. Obviously, I did not take that offer.
 

Does Dish offer an on time guarantee?

What kind of bugs are in the 622?
