Because when someone complains about not being able to get a channel without doubling their bill, then talks about just dropping their tv all together to save the money but still won't get that channel, it's just a whine fest. The 40+ channels you get, are mostly repeat channels(the big 4, the my network, the Spanish stations etc). Typically, when you go OTA, you are going to get in actuality a variety if maybe at the most 12-13 channels. You still get a lot more with the welcome package, but if that's not what you are into, save your money, but complaining about a channel you don't get, and to complain about it costing more to get, is just ridiculous. Think about, going to a mcdonalds, and getting mad, because you have to pay more for the Big Mac, than you do for the double cheeseburger. It's a dumb argument right? You just gonna threaten them to go BK? Or even the soup kitchen? Because that's pretty much the same argument you are making.

http://www.theverge.com/2013/8/26/4...s-30-percent-americans-have-no-home-broadband

80% of Americans have high speed internet, only 2% have zero access to it, 18% choose not to have it.
That's the exact kind of misdirection and misinformation I'm talking about. A news article says 30% "of respondents" don't have hi-speed internet and then they magically use that number to extrapolate the ridiculous numbers you quote. Take note the article, as is typical of these misinformation sites, doesn't vett any of those numbers as being factual. The numbers I quoted came right from the govt. You might as well use Wikipedia as a "legitimate" source. Here's the National Broadband map. Blue is available broadband, white has no wired broadband.

The difference in numbers, is because of hi speed via cell. It does states that in the article
As well.

So now you're an expert on what I can receive OTA. My, my, aren't we full of ourselves. I guess some people like to argue just for the sake of hearing themselves make noise. Time to give it a rest. Oh, yeah, one more thing, you have no idea why I'm considering dropping Dish but you assume it's because of FS1, it isn't, they are two different issues. You really need to stop assuming.

I found out yesterday that Fox will be carrying the MLB playoffs on FS1 and FS1 is nowhere to be found, at least in the first 4 packages Dish offers. It's not in Smart Pack, Top 120, Top 120+, or Dish America. Doesn't show up until the Top 200 package. I'm not interested in doubling my bill just to get 1 channel I want. This is getting really ridiculous.

Don't really care why said:
Don't really care why, just getting sick and tired of the nonsense. I'm within an eyelash of ditching Dish and just living with the 40+ channels I get OTA with my outdoor antenna.

This sum up why you are leaving?

As far as OTA, that is what is typical for ALL areas. Please, tell me, or show me, what are your 40 stations.

Ah but that's not what you were trying to show above. Each time you get caught fudging you change the story. I've wasted enough time with you, it's obvious your just a cut & paste responder with no real knowledge.

I pick up around 30 ota channels, so I'm not sure why you think he may get 12-13 at most. Funniest part, I'm picking up these channels with 100 signal and I'm using a 4 ft peice of coax with the end stripped back.

you do realize the majority of dish customers are rural, in my region you can pull in 9 ota channels and 4 of those are pbs and 2 are Cw the only 2 major broadcast channels that come in over the air is abc and cbs.

What I'm saying is, it sounded like it wasn't believed that the OP was able to pick up 40 channels via OTA. Or at least I'm guessing that's why the channel info was requested. So I was just chiming in that it is possible, and I get around 30. I'm sure there are plenty of areas where you can only get a small count of OTA channels, for whatever reason.
