Don't really care why, just getting sick and tired of the nonsense. I'm within an eyelash of ditching Dish and just living with the 40+ channels I get OTA with my outdoor antenna.Welcome to "the cost of doing business". That channel is in the same package it was contractually able to be in, when it was speed. Just because it got rebranded to FS1, doesn't mean the contract expired or became invalid. It has to remain there, until fox say it's ok to drop it. Like NBC Sprts did a couple years ago.
If you havent paid attention to current events even ota broadcasts are in jeopardy if certain lobbyist groups get their way.Don't really care why, just getting sick and tired of the nonsense. Another goof-up at Dish Network. Charlie is spending too much time with his various mergers and takeovers.
Every other Cable Satellite company has the new Fox News Go feature. The one hold out is Dish Network. Dish Network is asleep again.

I disagree. Despite all the rhetoric, I don't think too many customers, in the end, would change providers for a news network. Sorry. Many customers are tied into programming commitments and they can't leave. Plus, it's a hassle. Is that why Charlie won't put Fox Movie Channel HD on ? Hopefully it will be settled soon. Dish wouldn't dare drop Fox News, I can tell you that.
Where I live is considered to be part of the Philadelphia market by everybody except the geniuses at the FCC. Those wise old apples have dictated that I'm in the Scranton/Wilkes Barre market so those are the "locals" I get with Dish hence the outdoor antenna. So, don't need Dish for locals since they won't give me mine anyway. As for "raising up to that tier", what tier are you talking about? First you say "drop to the welcome pack" (never heard of that package) then say "raising up to that tier package" and finally you quote $20? What the heck are you talking about? First, the base package is named "Smart Pack", as quoted above, and the price is $32.99 per month. Existing customers who switch packages are not entitled to introductory rates. If you were just gonna go that route, why not just drop to the welcome pack and be happy? Locals, familiar equipment, and even a few national broadcasts. For just $20. I don't see the complaint of raising up to that tier package, if you are happy with just locals.
I do pay attention to current events I just don't let myself be fooled by noise, smoke, and mirrors. We discussed this several months ago on another forum when the doofus at CBS was threatening to do that because of Aero so let me throw some numbers at you. First, there are an estimated 20 million viewers who get their TV via an antenna and that number has been growing since the changeover to digital HD OTA. Second, all the affiliates in every major and some minor cities throughout the country wouldn't stand still for it, there is way too much money invested in those broadcasters and they feed way too much money back to the home office. Third, and most important, according to the latest figures available (2012) only 28% of the American population has access to broadband so if any network went totally to streaming they would instantly lose 70% of their market. Bottom line, tain't gonna happen. If you havent paid attention to current events even ota broadcasts are in jeopardy if certain lobbyist groups get their way.
You seem to be assuming that by OTA I'm just talking about local networks, I'm not. I do believe I mentioned above that I get 40+ channels via OTA. That "Welcome" package has junk in it. Now, having said everything I've said to this point, what does any of this have to do with not being willing to double my Dish bill?First thing. The lowest package is the welcome package. Secondly, you said you don't want to double your package to get FS1. Putting the fact that you state you will cancel for OTA only, you might as well drop from whatever you have to the welcome package, instead of worrying about raising you bill for 1 channel. And you can still keep OTA even, using the dish OTA module, for whatever receiver you have.
