Dish America = no HD for life?

Yes, new customers only. It is a promotional price. If you switch to that package you would be paying $34.99. I'm not sure you'll continue to get your encore channels either. You may want to talk to one of the DIRT to confirm.

you should be able to add them alacarte for $5

Roku has pandora for "free" music, you can also create your own stations or pick from the list of genres.

Local channels are included and you can add the Encore movie package for $5 or any of the other a la carte channels Dish offers other than the multi-sports package.

You must've gotten a bad unit. I have had absolutely no problems with my Roku.

(Sorry about the thread jack)

It may also be related to the service as well. Watching Hulu on the Roku was particularly bad. Plus I didn't own a Roku 2, just the original Roku XD. Not being able to FF (instead of skip forward) while seeing the content as it was fast forwarding was also a deal breaker for me. It made it very difficult to find a particular scene. Do the new Roku 2 models have a better FF/RW search feature?

I've never used Hulu. But the FF/RW function works very well in Netflix and other apps like Amazon Instant Video.
