If DTV is not currently using 119 National beams, after the spots go away do they lose rights to the spot after a while? Sell those rights to Dish or someone else?
Still selling 56kWireless is safe
Can't tell you how many dirty copper pairs I have had to work on in my career. Glad those days are over and now deal with jitter and echo
Lots of the copper plant has been abandoned but still lives on in...... Still selling T1's too, go figure.

They could also use those transponders for 4kThey are currently using the 119 national beams, it is all MPEG2 SD content except one transponder that's got a few MPEG4 HD channels. Its just that they drop MPEG2 SD, they will have enough bandwidth they no longer have any use for 119 (or 110 or 95)
They can't sell the rights AFAIK, but after some time of not using them (which may be a number of years, it won't happen overnight) the FCC would consider the transponders licensed to Directv at 110 & 119 to be abandoned. Dish would be able to apply for temporary rights to use them, and would need to renew on a regular basis. They already do this for a couple transponders at 61.5 that someone else abandoned.
There might be a way for Directv to directly transfer them to Dish (like what happened when Directv bought USSB back in the day) but they'd have to get something of value from Dish to want to do that. Otherwise they may want to keep those slots "in use" as long as they to keep them away from Dish. If they wanted to go that route, they could leave D7S up there as long as they can (at least through 2021, and maybe longer) and broadcast a carrier signal on those transponders, but not have any actual programming.
Name one cable or OTA broadcaster that has a 4K channel.
I keep seeing posts wanting more 4K content both here and the Dish Forum, but until Cable/ OTA channels start offering content it is a mute point.
If you want 4K you have to stream it, both now and the near future.

This will more than likely be a channel much like on D* where the event shows up when needed, NOT a full time ESPN 4K channel.
ESPN has been using 4k cameras for years..just not broadcasting..its starting much like HD did back in the dayThis will more than likely be a channel much like on D* where the event shows up when needed, NOT a full time ESPN 4K channel.
Also at what COST would such a channel show up ?
Right, they have been using 4k cameras ever since they became available ... that doesn't mean they will run out and start a 4k channel though.ESPN has been using 4k cameras for years..just not broadcasting..its starting much like HD did back in the day

The rest is used to build Sats ....
Sooooooo, are they just going to abandon those millions with Sat service ?The rest used to build sats, but the last I heard a few months ago is no new or spare sats will be built and the focus is content delivery via broadband in 5 yrs. By now it would be in 4 1/2 yrs.
Ask the people with copper phone lines who need service..what used to take a day or 2 now takes 4 or 5 days..plus break downs are more common due to less maintenanceSooooooo, are they just going to abandon those millions with Sat service ?
Maybe 40% eventually move to streaming, the other 60 % does WHAT ?
I have no desire to double my internet rates while changing over to streaming to watch tv .....
And what about the generations ahead of me ?
Exactly ... thats what I do every day.Ask the people with copper phone lines who need service..what used to take a day or 2 now takes 4 or 5 days..plus break downs are more common due to less maintenance

I feel your painExactly ... thats what I do every day.
Blame that on the constant surplusing of employees.
We use to have about 60 repair guys, now we have 25-30 if were lucky .... and No, the area we cover has not shrunk ...
Also have to do installs as well as repair, for Pots (the few that are left) internet and Bonded Pr Internet and the still being used U Verse TV service.
They will more than likely get rid of another 5+ this year, they cut 10 last year.
I don't get why they are still selling UVerseTV if they want to get rid of it? In another forum a member said a DTV installer said they were getting rid of UVerseTV this year. I wonder if that is because the home centric version of DTV NOW will replace it when that is supposed come out this Fall?Exactly ... thats what I do every day.
