ESPN was getting a relatively large amount of MPEG2 bandwidth, so the difference may not be that stunning. HBOE, SHOE HD Net and HD Net Movies should be substantially improved if all of the hubbub is to be believed.

HDNET looks great. When flipping back and forth between both ESPN2's, I see less noise on the mpeg4 channel.

I don't, a very informed poster at dbstalk (satelliteracer-D* employee) has said that August was unlikely for the HBO/Max channels.

Here's the exact quote

The two additional Showtime premiums are coming in August per the release.

There are other premium channels in the works assuming all parties can agree, etc. Timeline unknown but highly unlikely for August would be my guess.

Highly unlikely is not "no".

Im also a little worried about their idea for 130 channels if the premiums arent it. I guess well need 12 HD PPV's.

Not if you live in that area.

The vast majority of live pro level games (and collegiate football/baseball) on the RSN's is blacked out due to packaging and it doesn't matter what market you are living in. The rest of what's on those networks is filler.

First, this was a response to someone saying RSNs are a waste of bandwidth. If someone lives in Boston, they will not think NESN is a waste. If someone lives in NY, they won't think YES is a waste. So why should some areas only be able to receive their RSNs full time? Keep in mind that people that live in the area of their RSNs have NO blackouts at all.

Second, the vast majority is not blackout out if one gets the appropriate sports packages. And Collegiate is not blackout at all. So, it does matter and it is not filler. I live in LA and I can watch the Giants on CSNBA, the Sox on NESN, the Yanks on YES, ex. So, what is this majority blackout thing you are referring to again?

DogerKing,
I would bet that you also have the MLB package, correct ?
THAT is why you are getting the other RSN games not blacked out.
I agreed with everything you had said until that last part.

IF I have the Sports Package, I can watch the Tigers (I'm in the Detroit / Ohio market) but I CANNOT watch YES or NESN or any other RSN outside of my designated area when watching a PRO game ... Yes Colege games from all areas are available, but NO Pro.
At least thats the way it was when I use to have it a year or so ago.

Yes

Never stated otherwise, which is why I said, "...the vast majority is not blackout out if one gets the appropriate sports packages."

Why? What I said was true. The vast majority are not blacked out with the appropriate sports package.

The point being, RSNs are not a waste because without them we will not be able to get any of the sports packages, which attracts a lot of Direct subs, and those in the local markets would not be able to watch their respective teams.

Again, which is why I said, "...the vast majority is not blackout out if one gets the appropriate sports packages."

Still is that way.

Jimbo,

After reading my last post the tone seems to have come off as somewhat condescending. Just to let you know I did not mean for it to sound so negative and demeaning. It is difficult to convey tone on the internet. Take it as serious, but said in tongue and cheek at the same time (Does that make sense?):up

Looks like we'll only get the 4 announced HD nationals. The big add will be a large amount of extra PPV's, then as national agreements are finished the PPV's will come down.

Satracer at the other site has said more is coming and the PPV's are basically placeholders, when an agreement is reached they'll remove a PPV to add a new national HD channel.
