Directv 16 Launch Schedule

OK so now they've changed it to launch to 101, so T15's temporary authorization to move from 103 to 101 makes sense. I figured they'd either make that temporary authorization permanent, or end up launching T16 to 101.

Yup. They have filed separate application to change permanent location to 101.

Nope AT&T stated that the T16 is their last satellite that they are going to launch as they move to all OTT in the future.

Actually Directv specifically said they had ALREADY launched their last satellite. Some people here took it to mean that T16 (which at the time was known to exist only in some Airbus/EADS Astrium news) didn't exist wouldn't ever launch...

Which goes to show why you shouldn't take what the CEO says as gospel - he probably saw something about T16 cross his desk a couple years ago and assumed it had already been launched. He isn't going to care about that level of detail for one component of AT&T, but people read too much into his words as far as Directv's future.

Launch June 20
Arrive at 135w for in orbit testing june 29.
In orbit testing _ 3 weeks
Drift to 100.85.- 7 weeks

FCC filing:
2 See Modification Application to Change T16 Orbital Location (S3039), File No. SAT-MOD20190508-00036. T16, which is currently scheduled to launch on June 20, 2019, will be collocated with T15 at the 100.85? W.L. orbital location for approximately one month after T16 arrives at 100.85? W.L., during which time DBS services will be transferred from T15 to T16.

This would place it in total service in the first week of October

Yeah I noticed the narrative said it would take 7 weeks to drift from 135 (where IOT will take place for three weeks) to 101...I guess they are either moving very slowly or taking the long way around for some reason.
