I've been checking this thread at random times throughout the day, figured I wasn't the only that figured "awe, what hell" and just kept going with it
This poster has posted on all the satellite forums with posts on the series link issue, and the recording popup, and completely ignores everything he is told. I am sure there is nothing wrong with his HR34.
I can a sure I am not trying to fool anyone I have issues with the Direct tv dvrhd34 since I got it 2 weeks ago call Direct tv sending a guy out thursday should I tell em I want a 34 or 44 is the 44 outfielder ?
I'll be honest. Once they come, they most likely won't swap it out, as the problem is most likely user error. You can ask, but even if they do, I predict your problem will be the same, as you will use it the same way as you do now.
I do wish the communication could be more clear between us, but you have in fact gotten answers to all of your questions. Most multiple times.
Perhaps verbal communication with the technician will help in ways that written/typed help can not.

USUALLY, a replacement is the SAME model, unless they don't make that model anymore.
You said 44. It is the newer model, and is better.I went to direct tv .com I thought dvrhd34 was newer more features ?
44 is newer. The 34 has been out nearly 18 months where as the 44 is still being moved in to markets. The 44 is phasing out the 34 in all markets

"The 44 has a faster processor, and can connect to the internet wirelessly. The clients will be able to connect wirelessly at some point, but they aren't enabled yet. The 44 has an external power supply which allows the chassis to be much smaller than the 34. I think those are the main differences. I'm sure someone else remembers more about it than I do and will post more about it."
