It appears that I haev to enter a password each time I want to delete a protected program. I dont want this. I do have the DVR locked in order to not show redundant channels in the guide. I want to be abel to delete protect shows without entering a password a still prevent certain channels from appearing in the guide.

Anyone have any ideas?

That is an abnoxious feature.

I dont understand why in the world the locking of a dvr has to tinker with how programs are protected. Isnt the point of the thing to prevent kids from watching certain channels? The programs themselves arent locked and they can be viewed, yet you need a password to remove just because I dont want the DVR itself automatically removing them.

Do you actually have any children? See what happens to a program protected without a password when encountered by curious children.

Yes - there is a way to do what you want. But, you'll have to make your own favorites guide vs. using the lock feature to remove channels from the built-in "All Channel/Subscribed List". Create a favorite list in the guide & add only those channels that you want to see. This is what I do - that way, no shopping channels, no religious, no PI, no duplicate locals,, only the HD versions of ESPN, etc
