It requires you to set a password, so I don't know how one was created unless someone else in the household created one. However, you can call Dish, and after they verify that it is really the account holder, you can't sound like a 12 year old, and if the account is in a woman's name, you can't sound like a man, they will send a hit to your box and reset the password protection and everything should be unlocked.
You can also establish a PIN number with Dish that you can say verbally to a CSR in the future so that they can verify that it is really the account holder addressing the CSR. I have a PIN, and when I call, it is the very first thing they ask me once they pull-up my account. Nice safety feature.
