DCII free channels?

A GI 2400 is not the same thing as a GI 4200... the 2400 is an old analog box, and will not tune in DCII (or any other digital video signal). I believe it will move an actuator, such as those found on BUDs, and you might put it to some use in the fall during college football season (when there are still some analog feeds around)...

I tried the spare DSR410 last night. I can find a few FP mode channels available but the channels numbers aren't mapped exactly. I keep finding the same channels as I have in the past. I surfed through 100s of channels without finding the Access Channel. I noticed with this 410 there is a target software level above what this has. I can't help but wonder what would happen if I let it download.

For the fun of it, I connected my DSR905 back up and tried that. After a few minutes, I was on channel 351 and had Access. :) Now I see why others like that channel. I think I'll keep A4 in my sat list.

From reading here, others said it was safe for the 905. I saved A4 as the sat and let it map. BTW, it seems like the 905 gets more Starchoice channels ITC than the 410. I seem to remember trying this years ago and locked up the receiver. I won't try this with my 922.

:bow Thank you all for your help I’m going the 410 rout... corrado now that you know don’t share with other as we don’t need the good stuff going on the same rotations as the state side as that would defeat the whole purpose of what I’m doing :p

rocket

corrado DIDNT lock Access with the 410.....all that shows up is a bunch of the PPV preview channel (200)

Strange. When I locked on to check on that channel, I swear it had some kind of Parlimentary speach or something (I didn't have the volume turned on). Having no idea of what the Access channel was, I assumed it must be something like that other channel on the sat, ie the BC Legislature channel, which made me wonder why anyone was interested in it enough to buy a receiver just to get that. (It DID have the little "Access" logo at bottom right, in case you think I was on the wrong channel.)
After reading THIS post, I went to the Access web page, and I see that the channel actually has entertainment type programming, so I don't know what the heck was on there when I tuned in. Only thing I can figure is I must have connected while there was some program that just happened to be showing someone talking to a government body.

well I just had some fun

Hooked the 905 up to 107.3 and couldnt tune in 200 but got 327 (which is the same thing)...after a bit it added the names to the channel and both 351 & 354 (Access & Knowledge) came in just fine along with 329 & 330 (the fireplace & xmas tree channel), Shopping Network (392), BCTV (393) and a few radio stations (825 & 828)

Hooked the 410 up and can get 393, 329, 330 but not Access or Knowledge....so you would need a cheap 4DTV or a previously subbed Starchoice box. Whats funny is my 4DTV has no subscription yet I get them. The 410 doesnt have a sub either yet it cant log them

the 410 will map the channels in its just that you cant see them. They show "need subscription....."

200, 327, 366 etc (the ppv preview channels will come in)
329 & 330 (holiday channels) work on the 410
393 BCLeg works

but 351 & 354 get the "please wait...." message

well i gess we will wate and see if corrad can shead some light on how he was able to get access working.. im curently wating on a DSR410 recever so i cant conferm just yet. if i cant get it to work then il go the SC ex sub rout.

I dont see where he got it on a 410...In post 22 he mentions what he tried

which pretty much matches up what I experienced tonight in post 28

I think you will have to go the previously subbed SC receiver route which might be easy to do

Just might so far only one offer from my WTB post that was deleted. 205 sc recever no power suply/remote. still might get that one if i cant get the 410 to fire up. getting access b4 xmas is a lost as the show she wants is done after sunday till next year in jan.

I wuld hook up the 922 at the office and send it over sling but if that box gets jacked over my boss will jack me over..

if you let the 922 sit on AnikF1 it will download the maps for SC and would require a master reset to fix it...which involves starting from scratch for everything (sat setups, limits, etc)

only the 905 is immune to this (the 922 & 920 are not) but I noticed the 905 runs painfully S L O W after it loads the guide

The 905 is safe to be on AnikF1....I think the 920 & 922 lock up

From what I heard the 920 and 922 will overflow the TDT count to 1920 and cause the unit to do funky stuff. You will be forced to do a master reset to get it to work right again. The 905 don't have the analog channel maps and doesn't overflow. There is also a business mode switch on the 905 from what I understand will allow it to do other stuff too. I never tried my 922 on the anik ku's since I never wanted to mess up my US domestic maps and do a MR.

Sorry for the confusion guys. The 410 did eventually map correct and gets 351 as well as the 905.

What I've noticed is that different receivers seem to get different results with these even on 4DTV. Some channels slip in with others sometimes.

I know that "U" channels like ALTV work as long as there's a sub. I thought that "FP" status should work ITC for everyone. Why would an ex Starchoice sub box be necessary?

I saw a "MI" option when checking the status on a few channels. I know ZK is zero key and MP must be "mapped" but what is MI??

Maybe its time to do a reset and let it download again

MI is missing program information. MP is Missing program Rekey.

Here is a file with all the authorization states.
