I found these two press releses on another forum, about content.
Stamford, Conn (November 30, 2006) -- VERSUS, the home of field sports’ finest, announces that the network’s premium hunting and fishing programming will be available in crystal-clear high definition as part of the VERSUS HD feed, a high-def simulcast of the linear network to launch in January of 2007. The network has significantly increased its investment in high def field sports content and will use VERSUS HD as a platform to showcase these programs, as well as the network’s NHL coverage, professional boxing events and professional bull riding events.
“We are on a mission to be the number one field sports television brand and high definition is the most desirable real estate in television,” said Gavin Harvey, President of VERSUS. “Because of our commitment, passion and belief in hunting and fishing programming, we are giving the genre a national platform in this valuable TV format.”
VERSUS will showcase its prime time, high-def field sports programming, as well as its daytime and weekend hunting and fishing line up, seven days a week.
VERSUS HD will offer more than 20 field sports shows in high def, transporting the viewer in to the heart-pounding action on the screen. From Whitetail Revolution and The World of Beretta, to TRCP’s Life in the Open and The World Billfish Series, viewers will be able to see every blade of grass, every ripple of water and every twitch of muscle in vibrant high def.
“There is no genre of TV better suited for this technology," said Harvey. "It’s the first-ever distribution of HD field sports programming on a national scale. Finally, people nationwide will get to see the breathtaking landscapes and spectacular wildlife of hunting and fishing shows in high def, which can be a positive force for growing the lifestyle we love.”
In addition to being great entertainment, VERSUS’ field sports programming strives to get viewers excited about hunting and fishing, and educate them about important conservation issues that impact the community. VERSUS is leading the charge to use television, HD, video on demand, broadband, and other emerging digital media outlets to expand the hunting and fishing community base, and give a voice to the issues important to the community.
High def is one of the fastest-growing categories in television, with an anticipated 42 million users expected by 2009. VERSUS’ HD programming will be available on several Comcast systems as well as DirecTV in January.

AND about the Golf Channel
.....The next thing I'd mention -- HD television. Every weekend we'll be on HD next year. 16 or 17 percent of American households today are HD capable. By the time our network agreements run in 2012, that will be in the 60 percentile. If you just go down to your local electronics dealer and look at where the prices are going on HD television, it's becoming -- it will be mainstream in a very short period of time.
