Connecting Dish 500 to receiver

I have an older Dish 500 (2001) which has 2 connectors. There is no switch built into the LNB's to allow it to go between either connector. I have one cable from the receiver to connect to the dish. I was told I needed to buy a new LNB with the switch built in for $50. Is there a cheaper way to hook up the dish to my single cable?

Ok when you say it has 2 connectors, does it have two seperate LNB's (seperate EYE's) on the dish or is there one LNB (two eyes molded into one unit) that has 2 connectors?

If it has 2 seperate LNB's then all you need to get is what is called an SW-21 switch. THis will blend the 2 lnb's together on the one line going to your receiver.

If you have the other setup with 2 eye's and it's all one molded piece, this is called a twin. It can either be a Legacy unit or a Dish Pro unit. Either way you don't need a switch with this type of unit. Both satellite locations will come down the one line. You don't need to connect both outputs to the receiver.

Dish 500 connection

Thank You for the message. It has two LNB molded into one but has two connections on the bottom. From what you say if I connect to either one it should work!
