Attempting to Return to Dish Network
Years ago we had Dish Network. After my husband lost his job we just didn't have money for the extras. When we called DN they were so gracious and nice. They told us they looked forward to working with us in the future and that we would not have to pay any activation fees. They were super pleasant. We own our receiver and they told us just to ignore the satellite. Which we did, unfortunately hurricanes Frances, Jeanne, & Wilma did not.
Currently, my mother offered to pay for our service since our children (and yes me & my husband, too) practically drool over the cable programming she has at her house.
So, I called today to find out about getting our hurricane destroyed & gone satellite replaced. DN said we would have to pay for a new dish and installation from a local installer. I called and it will be $298 for the dish and install (Mounting to the outside of our house, we don't need anything else.)
It seemed like DN didn't want the business. If I asked one thing they said, "No, you're not a new customer." If I asked another, "No, you're not an existing customer."
The company treated us the best during our prior experience, even when we were discontinuing. Their programming seems to be the best deal. I would like to enjoy their service again.
But, we're not interested in signing up new, since we already have a box. I don't think that is even possible anyway. We would just like a dish and to resume business with them.
The customer service center was clearly not in the states. I was put on hold about ten times. The entire thing was strange.
Could we just buy a dish off of eBay and have my husband place it where the old one was?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
