I'm looking into maybe switching to Dishnetwork.I want all the HD channels they offer.Do they make an HD-DVR? If so I want 1 of them and one HD receiver without DVR and one Standard receiver. Are they running any deals that wouldn't put alot of upfront costs.Because if I decide to leave Directv ,it already going to cost me $271 dollars.

Start here for the 622 HD DVR.

You can get a Vip222 non-DVR HD receiver that also feeds an SD signal to another TV, so you wouldn't need that 3rd receiver.

Call Claude at DishStore.NET and tell him what your looking for...

You cost could be close to free... in fact he might even pay you to switch. :)

Thats what I'm thinking.I'll eat the $271. Because I don't think Directv is going to be as good as they claim. If dish is going to launch more satellites too.,Then they are still going to be ahead of Directv.

Well I hope I don't regret it. Because I took all the advise here and switched. They are comming on July 4th between 8 and noon. Thanks for you help guys ,Now I have to go over to the Directv form and say good bye. I hope no one gets mad. Thanks Scott for your help too. It cost me $49.99 and I got HDDVR and on HD and Standard . Plus $10 off per month for the next 10.I got the Everything pack with the $20 HD package. For $105 per month About $30 less Then Directv. Hope I made the right choice.

Congratulations on coming over to the dark side. The 622 is a great DVR you won't be disappointed.

I'm not sure what equipment I'm getting .1 HDDVR 1HD and a Standard .I don't really understand how they work. But I think I can hook up 4 tv's with this equipment, form what I understood. But i'm only doing 3 for now.

622 = HD DVR (1 HD TV and 1 SD TV or PIP on one TV)
211 = HD Single Tuner
222 = HD Dual Tuner (1 HD TV and 1 SD TV)

How many Satellites does E* have now? and I heard they may launch more ? Has anyone confirmed this? How much different is the E* dish pointed then the D* dish. My zip is 18445

622 and the 222 is what i'm getting.I guess just 3 tv's

Those two receivers will do 4 TV's. 2 HD and 2 SD. You will just lose the PIP function if you run 2 TV's off the 622. I run the least watched TV off the 622 so I can have PIP when the other is not in use. Then when the wife needs to use the other TV, I just change it back to the dual TV mode. It is as easy as a press of a button.

Hemi,

I am curious as to why you switched. Was it because you like the VOOM channels? Local HD is worse on dish! Though some of their HD looks better, but not much better.

Just curious. I will say, you will like the 622. It is the only thing about Dish that I still miss. I'm heading for Directv. Install is set for Friday morning.

total satellites...8
61.5...Int'l & HD..
105...not used much...has some locals still on it
110...2nd main satellite
118.7..Int'l and some HD locals
119..main satellite
121..Int'l and some locals
129..HD
148..Locals/Int'l

For your area you'll either have a Dish 1000 for 110/119/129 or 2 dishes (110/119 & 61.5) depending on what locals you will get. If its Philly locals, then it would be the 2 dish setup

I'm big on HD and the problem with Directv is "All Talk No Action" I want HD now!! While they are Setting up to launch a satellite all other providers are ADDING more HD.And Dish is Launching 2 more Satellites as well . So how is Directv ever going to be ahead of the game. Never! They cost more money then Dish ,They have less channels, and billing thats unexplainable. Lets just say I made a choice based on Programming and price,If I'm wrong I let everyone know, but untill then i still feel good about my choice.Even if it is costing me $271.

Well today is the day. E* comming between 8 and noon. Still waiting for the phone call for Directions.Hope they are still comming. Dish did call last night to confirm.I don't want my first impression to be bad.
