Today on WDEF channel 12 a story was reported that Comcast will start offering 2GB speeds in June. They are competing with EPB FI which offers 1GB speeds now, supposedly the fastest in the US except for Atlanta.

I am a little suspect of this story. I think someone may have got their facts mixed up. I can't find a single source for the story as it appeared on the Times Free website. Nothing at all other than reprints of that story. It also doesn't make sense that they would invest in a lost market like Chattanooga. The 2GB internet will not be price comparable to $70 1Gb that EPB Fiber Optics offers, so where is the incentive? Also Comcast has to run the fiber to each home further hindering the deployment.
