Current set up has a dish 500 antenna, my locals are out of Pittsburgh (118.7). My home set up includes a 1000 plus with a DP44. Question is do I need to install a 1000 Plus with the DP44 switch or can I do something else. Is a two antenna set up an option? Cost of the 1000 Plus is a drawback but I will do what needs done. I will be using my home VIP 211 when in the RV.
Thanks

You would need a 500+ to get 110, 118.7, and 119 and then another 500 or 300 to get either 129 or 61.5 for the rest of the HD programming and your locals plus a switch. All things considered the 1000+ single dish solution plus switch is probably the best option if you have to have your locals available. If you just want programming without locals, you could use a Dish 1000.2 receiving 110, 119, and 129 with no switch required. I assume you have a 500+ currently with the RV since you're getting 118.7. You already have the switch with the Dish 500+ (correct?) so all you need is a second 500 or 300 with a DP Dual LNB to get either 129 or 61.5 for more HD. You would end up having to point two dishes though.

I do not have the dish 500 plus in the rv, it's a dish 500. The std. def pitt locals are on 110 so I get them now. I would need to receive 118.7 for Pitt HD locals. So if I understand you correctly I would need a 1000.2 and a 500 plus with a switch (what switch) OR a 1000 plus with the DP44 to match my home system. Aiming two would be somewhat of a pain but until the supply of the 1000+ increases it may be an option.
Thank you so much

Dish 1000.2 would replace the 500, you don't need both.

A 500+ for 118.7, 110, 119 plus either a 500 or 300 with a DP Dual or single LNB for 129 plus a switch or a Dish 1000+ and switch like you have at home. The 1000.2 would be a waste to use with a 500+ since if you have a 500+ all you need is a regular 500 or 300 and LNB to grab the 129 satellite.

Thanks for your help, what switch would I need for the 500+ and 500 set up?
