Ya we knew that it would work the question is does dtv ever do anything. All the posts were mostly about getting a us ip in canada, let us know if you ever get any c&d emails or letters.

Everything work like a charm. 100% working in Canadian soil - Direct VOD hookup straight wired to the router. Thanks for all your help and responses. You are the best.

Just wanted to bump this thread to see how things were running? Were you able to setup the VPN? If not I still recommend looking into it. if D begins to see an abnormally high amount of CAN ip's it might be forced to do something about it. All it takes is one person to ruin it for everybody

Old thread, but the OP ended up just running VOD over his canadian IP. If you like I can start a thread with some basic instructions for building a server to vpn to a us ipaddress permenantly. Just be aware that in addition to build a new computer just for this purpose that must run 24/7, you will also need to purchase some software. Not trying to endorse anyone in particular, so google may be your best bet. If you have a friend or family member that lives in the us, you can use a free program called hamanchi to run your pc off their ip address. But their computer must then be on 24/7 in addition to yours, and they need to have an active internet connection obviously.
