Can you get lucky and aim your dish to aim at any satellite you wish to?

I have move home 3 times and I always find signal for dish network without any tools just by looking at the signal meter shown on my tv.

But Do you think I would be able to aim a new 33" that I got today at Satmext5 or IA 6 without any tools?

Any tips? BTW this is for TV Azteca (I6) and Televisa (Satmex5)

Sure the signal Quality Meter on your receiver is better than any satellite meter. Enter a known LIVE TP. and watch for signal quality as you aim the dish. Of course you would have to have a small TV close to where the dish is when pointing!

You do not need a meter to install and aim a dish. Simply select a good strong transponder (SATMEX / 12080 / H / 25635 or IA6 / 12175 / V / 5147) and set your LNB LO frequency correctly you have the best meter that mony can buy!

The receiver will indicate that you are on the correct satellite when the quality meter displays a reading and peak for best reception by obtaining the highest Quality reading.

Remember that the signal level indicator in the receiver does not indicate that you are on the correct satellite. It only reads that a signal is being received.

Cheap signal meters only tell you that you are near a satellite. They will not be of assistance in peaking for Quality (BER) or identidying what satellite that you are pointed at.

Thanks

I got the fortec 80cm with FSKU-2v lnb
I try it to aim it today but no luck do you know what to put on LNB freq on the coolsat 4000 pro?
i only got 97% signal but 7% Quality.
Do I have to change any setts on the coolsat?

9750-10600 for a Universal LNBF should be the L.O. setting.

this is for Satmex5 or IA6? or both?:)

What's L.O. and on which screen do I set it up?

That value is for your LNB. It should be set in the antenna setup screen.

The below is from Icebergs TIP of the day.

When setting up a LNB, make sure you have the right LNB LO frequency

C-Band is 5150
KU Band STANDARD is 10750
KU Band Universal is 9750/10600 (setting it to Universal this defaults)
DBS Band is 11250

thanks for your quick response, I will give it a try, I get back with my feedback.
