I plan to install a Sirius receiver in a 2005 Honda Accord EX equiped with factory XM. I have the Sirius unit and converter but my question is, can I use the factory installed XM antenna to plug into my new Sirius receiver? Since it is roof mounted and painted the same color as the car, I would like to find a solution to be able to do this. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have read where this is possible, but you may not like the results. Sirius has a higher gain antenna. As a possible solution you might ask your Honda dealer if and when he will get the Sirius Sigma antenna. I know that Toyota and Nissan will be using this antenna along with other OEM's. Here is a picture of the Sirius Sigma antenna in a '05 Toyota Tundra. The antenna is not noticeable from an outside the vehicle view.

Another solution is to go with a Sirius plug and play or the new Sirius Starbase and place its antenna on your dashboard. This way you could keep both services. Here is a Starbase review

Wow, I just came here looking for the same info, except I have an 04 Accord.

I'm going a bit further & adding a DVD player to the nav system while I'm at it. :D

It would be really sweet if I can simply use the roof mounted antennawhen I switch from XM to Sirius. I've been scouring the net for info, I can't believe we're the only two trying to do this.

If I find anything, I'll let you know

It will work, BUT not perfectly.

Apparently the antenna electronics are tuned for the exact frequency of each service. So while it will work, your signal strength will not be as high as it could be.

I use a XM PCR home antenna on my dash for my Sirius Audiovox receiver.

I wonder if there's a way to swap antenna. Putting the Sirius one on the roof under the cap for the XM one & use the existing cable.
