Okay guys, here's my dilemma. I currently have 2 hoppers and 3 joeys in my home. About two years ago I added a screened in back porch. I didn't want a receiver outside all the time, so I needed to run an HDMI from my front den, up the wall, through the attic, and then outside to my porch. The run was about 50-60 feet which made an HDMI almost impossible. So I ran 2 runs of cat6 cable with an HDMI extender on each end. It worked great for about a year and half. But I can't seem to get a signal anymore. I bought new extenders from monoprice but that didn't fix my problem. So.....since I never use the Joey in the den at the same time as I use the tv outside (it's the same tv that I move back and forth). I'm wondering if I can also move the Joey from the den out to the porch? I have an RG6 cable run out from the porch to my switch near the Dish, although it's not currently hooked up to anything. If not, do I have any other options besides adding another Joey?

I move my Joey around the house occasionally. If it's connected to a "client" connection on the node when I plug it in to power it automatically reconnects to the last Hopper it was paired with. I have a duo node with 2 Hoppers & 1 Joey. One "client" connection RG-6 goes upstairs, one goes to the downstairs.

I do the same as jpmarto. I also have another option. Along with a RG-6 connection, I ran a cat5e to my patio. I use component extenders. One to the Hopper component out, the other to the component in on my 32" TV. Maybe component works better than HDMI, as I have no issues. Since the Hopper's remote is RF, I am able to change channels from outside. I also have 2 speakers outside hooked to my receiver for great audio. I have to aim the remote thru the French Door to adjust volume though. You can just use your TV's speakers.

I would swap out one of those Joeys with the new Wireless Joey and then you can move it all over the house as long as it's close enough to the WAP.

as long as you dont add more than than one wall between the wap and wireless joey it works like a champ.
a wap is supposed to cover a 4500 square foot home, but with the few I have installed I have found out when you start adding in more than one wall the signal level goes to crap.

I've only installed my own and it was a piece of cake. I haven't tried moving it around yet. Eventually I'd like to see if it will work in my garage which is not attached.

You could replace the three way splitter you have your joeys connected to with a four way, and connect the cable running to your sun room to the four way splitter. Then you can just move that joey back and forth without having to swap the cables on the splitter each time

I'm thinking that May be the best option. Would I need to run a check switch every time I move the Joey?

Funny, my Joey 1.0 with the wireless adapter works through several walls, and even outside. Works great as a matter of fact. Watch TV on the patio a lot. Then again I have three huge antennas on my AP, plus it runs at 2.4GHz, which has better penetration.
