cable tv hookup into dish

I just signed up with DISH since they got my locals, however, they do not have ABC for some reason. I still have basic cable which gets ABC. Is there a way I can hook my cable into the 522-DVR to get ABC?

Yes, sorta.... the 522 has an antenna/cable input on the back. Be aware that the channels you get via cable will NOT show up in the program guide, nor can you record them.

Where are you located ?? I'm surprised Dish launched your locals without ABC. I'm sure they want the big four but apparently, your ABC played hardball...

even when subscribing to the locals package they won't show up? Supposedly I can hook an OTA antenna in and search for channels but I get terrible reception where I am.

You're confusing digital channels via over-the-air that can integrate into Dish's HD receivers. With a 522, it does not matter if you subscribe or not.
