EDIT: Always power off the receiver using the Switch on the Back before Connecting or Disconnecting cables.

Nimiq and "Most" Echostar are "C"ircular
FTA Sats are "L"inear

If you are going to use and In-Line meter, I'd connect:
Receiver----Motor-----DiSEqC-----Meter------LNB

Does anyone know for certain, that the Nimiq 1 beam extends to Iowa? I've heard that the Bell birds had been re-beamed, and that much of the US was outside those beams. Robert, it should be VERY easy to hit Nimiq 1 on the Circular port of your lnbf, if the beam is present. You could do it with a hand held dish, it's so powerful. Once you get Nimiq 1, then a sterner test is picking up the linear bird at 91W . THAT is the point where you'll be able to optimize your aim.
:)

OK I am going to reconnect the cable back to the Switch, then put tester in between the LBN 'C' and motor.

I have everything set the elevation and dish. (No I know better about power 'on' I have the reciever switched off on the master switch.)

BRB.

I just went ahead and connected:
Reciever to LBN "C" direct. since I am just looking for that "ONE" Satelite.

Here in the Northern states, it would be really difficult to exclude the beam without affecting the Canadian audience. Further south, I know it becomes impossible to acquire at some point.
:)

Were does Hughes Net aim at? That dish seems to be pointing higher than what I am setting at

Is there an offset on the 90 CM Fortec?

I can not do this by myself. That satellite finder does not show anything. And who knows I might have hit the saellite but no one to scream at me . And I am not going to drag everything out side niether.

And no quality signal

I can not imput 11250 for frequency

Your LNB settings are incorrect, you will not pick up any signal. Your first post states that you have an Invacom QPH-031 for your LNB. If you look at the port labeling of the LNB you have two that are listed as (L) and two listed as (C). The L stands for your linear broadcasts signals and the C is for the circular broadcast signals. Nimiq and Dish Network are circular broadcasts and (C) is the output port to selct for those. All the other KU broadcasts will be linear and you select (L) as the invacom output port, and is dependednt of what you use for a switch to select them.

NOW on to the bigger problem. The QPH-031 is a standard LNB and for your linear you will select LNB type as a single with and LO setting of 10.750. For Nimiq you must select the circular port, circular you set the LNB type as single and the LO frequency to 11.250. Unless your using a 22khz switch you don't have to bother with this setting.

Try that and see if you get signal!

I am on the C port, I went to single and did get frequency to 11250 So I will have to get back to my original mast starting point and work it again
Because I still do not get a signal. (Quality that is. I have 77 on signal but 0 for quality.

OK moved it back but no quality. It is getting windy out here now at 25 MPH Gust to about 30.
I set transponder to 12224

If you are looking at transponder from 91W nimiq, make sure it is listed as 12.224 (R) or (V) for the frequency on your receiver and make sure the Symbol Rate shows as 20.000 MS/s.

Just an added note, (R=V) and (L=H) when you speak of the way polarity is listed on most receivers. Usually the receiver will only prompt screen as H/V, so you need to know what the circular polarities of Left and Right equate to.

Transponder list:
12224 Frequ
Symb: 20000
POL: V
FEC: 5/6th

If signal is reading 77, that does mean I am getting power to my LNB Right? Just wondering if so. The satellite finder does have a light that comes on when power comes to that. and it is just one connection away from the LNB.

Your listings are correct. The 77 signal level is telling you that the LNB is powered up and consuming current, once you start to lock onto a signal the signal level should rise. Once your receiver has locked enough of the signal to pull it out of the noise floor the quality bar will begin to register as percent quality.

Well I am all over the sky and can not get nothing. For the Nimiq 1.3. And it is getting windy here to almost want me to just quit.
Maybe I can have a person come over tomorrow to be able to scream at me if a Q signal gets anything.

I wonder what I could get on the other 91 W Satellites, if they would work. how strong is this Nimiq 1.3 @91W anyway?
I just hope I do not have something that is not working in this system.

I have a 1-1/4 inch pole, and started as My magnetic compass stated as 'South' for a mark on the south side of pole. I have marked that spot with a reference to the mast clamp for the moteck sg1200. I have been moving it in a 1/32 intervals east to get some type of signal (The signal meter does not get anything) and run into the house and find no quality signal.

I wonder if I need to start setting up on the elevation, and start moving (from my mark) to the east at every 1/32 to 1/16" intrevals?

I wonder if the arm for the LBN is out of wack? I thought I should have got something by now.
