A couple of years ago I called a Dish number (not the normal one) and I talked to someone very helpful about getting me special promos to stay with Dish's service. I got like $30 off for 24 months and 6 PPV passes w/o having to sign a new commitment. Do you guys know the best number for me to call for that?

I got $40.00 off a month for a year on my account and $30.00off a month for a year on my second account for my parents. From now on I stick to yearly deals because you never know when you will want to cut the cord entirely. Right now I’ve already started shaving the cord with dropping the sat locals and using a Tablo ota Dvr. Soon there will no reason to get premium channels from satellite since HBO is gone and Showtime is high now too. I can get them cheaper online. I think I still have Dish for the flex pack and for the Hopper 3. But I’m starting to wonder if it is worth $15.00 a month.

Called DISH at 888-496-1260 today and the lady answered the phone as an account specialist. I asked her to look over my programs to see what she could do. She gave me the $40 credit too but I thought it was for just one month. I sure hope it is for a year too. She said DISH has changed their policy for the Protection Plan. She said I should cancel it and just add it when needed. Then you have to keep it for six months. So I cancelled it. I about fell over. I knew a lot of folks already didn’t have the Protection Plan and signed up for it when needed but now it is the DISH policy to do it that way. She also said they are working hard on getting HBO back.

She asked me if there was anything else she could do for me. So, I told her how my DISH sure has faded and is getting ugly. I said you can’t tell if it is a DISH or Direct dish and I didn’t like that. So, she has scheduled me an appointment to replace my faded dish and LNBs too. One of the best phone calls I have ever had with DISH.

You sure you didn't misdial and got the Tooth Fairy instead?

I used to own a ton of misdial dish numbers. There are a ton still out there too.

Best one I had was an 800 number version of an 888 number used by Costco, Radio Shack and Sears employees to call in dish orders.

Had associates from those stores calling me all day long literally handing the phone to customers to sign up for service in the store.

I didn’t feel bad for them because they where supposed to sell it to the customer and call it in. Instead they would give us their rep ID and hand off the phone to the customers.

Thanks, fer Posting yer result. Did you have to agree to a new 2-Year agreement?

I'm gonna call the # and see what I can get...Hope this is cool and not gonna cause bills to go up across the board...Last time I posted about getting free remotes I was "X-X-X-X-X-X-X" here because some thought I was causing everyone's bill to go up because of getting a freebie/discount!...LOL!!!

She never brought up anything about the 2 year commitment. I did say if you have to do a 2 year thing that I didn't care because I am a Charlie die hard till the end. And the hell with ATT and Direct. She just thanked me for being so pleasant with her because of all the negative calls they have gotten lately. I was thinking of going to the AEP from the America's Top 250. She said I was already getting a good deal with the Top 250 that if I could, stay with it. I concurred so scratched the AEP idea. So all I have now is the Top 250, Movie Pack, Max, Starz Pack, and Showtime. Remember, kindness is a good thing, if you can when you call DISH.

Look at your programming section of your online account and see if the $40.00 a month off credit shows up in your summary part of your programming. It would say credit 1 of 12 if the $40.00 off is for a year or it would say one time courtesy credit of $40.00 if it isn't . Mine showed up in a couple of days after I talked to the rep.

OK, thanks. I will keep checking.

I was told I already have a good deal + not a long time customer so not able to reduce ongoing monthly bills...I asked when am I considered a long timer After 2 years was the reply.

He offered me a one time $60.00 credit off my next bill + another 54 Remote to replace the one that is an annoyingly loud clicker!

Do I really have a good deal or just the normal retail deal?

America's Everything Pack 137.99

Local Channels 12.00

Hopper DVR Service 15.00

Joey Receiver 7.00

Thanks for the number. I did called and got a new 1 yr contract with $30 off a month for the year. I was happy with that, being on a fixed income. That makes a big difference.
