Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I thought DISH was already given the money and paid the debt off already.
They were.

But TPG can still cancel the deal, unless the creditors agree to the, now, roughly $1.7 Billion cut.

I have no idea how soon Echostar would have to pay back that $2 Billion, if the deal is cancelled.

I have heard they don't have to pay it back, that was a gamble TPG took.

As I said before if this is true, then it would not surprise me to see DISH ending. up owning DIRECTV.

I learned a long time ago, never count Charlie out.
What has Charlie done in 15 years? That Blockbuster deal was a money maker!

What has DirecTV done, except lose only 14 Million Subscribers in the last 8 years, I cannot think of anything.

Definitely not launching Satellites or designing and building new set top boxes.

Im not the one tooting Charlie who was kicked out of Vegas for cheating? I will ask again, what has he done in 15 years?

Why launch satellites or build new set boxes when you already have the best box on the market and have redundant satellite capacity available?

They did launch one new satellite in 2023 for broadband service and have a tv one under construction for launch in 2026.

Thought it was obvious I was referring to DirecTV.

DirecTV agrees to buy Dish for $1, assuming its billions of dollars in debt

The deal still hinges on Dish bondholders agreeing on net debt lower than $1.56 billion, which a DirecTV spokesperson said the company will look to secure in the coming weeks. Bondholders can accept a lower percentage, take a slightly higher percentage today, or wait it out, which risks Dish ending up in bankruptcy. Dish shared an exchange offering in a press release on Monday.

Dish currently has a $2 billion debt maturity coming up on November 23. To secure funding through a shared revenue stream, TPG and DirecTV will provide Dish with a $10 billion loan that will allow the company to pay off its maturity on November 24.
