Here's the situation, my dad had a 510 receiver go out and Dish replaced it with a 512. No separator was sent with the 512 but, I had one laying around so we tried using it. Could only get signal on tuner 1. I reversed the connections and then only got signal on tuner 2. So, I figured, bad separator, right? My dad went by a local dealer and got another separator. Same results with the "new" separator.
So, I'm thinking, maybe I have a bad RG6 patch cable coming off the separator to the tuner connector on the receiver. Tried some different cables, didn't help, same same. So, now, I'm back to thinking that the separator is the problem? Did I just have a run of bad luck and get 2 bad separators or is there something else I should be looking at?
There's a DP34 at the dish that sends 2 feeds to the house to 2 receivers, a 512 and a 510. I was using DP Plus Separators to try and split the signal for the 512's dual tuners. Appreciate any tips you can throw my way...
