Vague indications are that it does the DVB-S2 8PSK thingy.

I am just wondering if it will work with the Pansat 9000HD to do the DVB-S2.

The longer Pansat waits to get this feature working, the more dissatisfied I become with this unit that is looking more like a lemon every day. :(

Well, from what I read at the website, I am thinking it's only for the 9200.

Kind of pricey IMO and when I contacted the website on how to use it (after buying my 9200) and what it's good for, they emailed the address of a hack site. So, I am skeptical it actually adds any real functionality.

I agree with the "pricey".

I contacted PansatUSA a few weeks ago and they said they would get it working when FTA content became available. I think that is LAME. We bought receivers with DVB-S2 8PSK support and it is not being offered. :(

if you bought a 9200hd it does support dvb-s2 it doesnt mean it comes with that option already in it. As far as i know the illuminati is the only board available that works with the 9200 and will give you dvb-s2 8psk if you use the loop. There isnt a out of the box fta 8psk reciever on the market.

There are members who toss around misinformation on 8psk. you really need to do some fact finding from people who actually own the equipment and not listen to a person whos friend told him he knew someone whos brothers father-in-law works with a guy whos son has one.

From what I've seen on the web, the Illuminati does turbo 8psk. I haven't seen anything about DVB-S2.

One needs to be certain they are reading information about the "Illuminati" board and not the "Q" board. The pictures show the boards to be different.

There is a coupon being offered on Ebay by an unrated seller which mentions the DVB-S2. Pansat 9200HD Illuminati 8psk module for HDTV $20 coup. - (eBay item 300175735884 end time Dec-04-07 15:43:00 PST)

I can find no info which references the "Illuminati" as a clone of the EchoStar board. However there is info which indicates the "Q" board is a clone of the EchoStar board.

I didn't want to post the link I saw the info at when looking up the add-on for DVB-S2, but that I saw the Illuminati board originally

Photoman linked it already.

Draw your own conclusions on who they are marketing to

lol, clearly they dont have a clue what they are selling then.

there are three major types of 8psk and everyone (including pansat) seems to get them confused.

8psk dvb-s2
8psk turbo-fec
8psk trellis

they are not intercompatible. they are all very different.

there is truefta 8psk dvb-s2 in NA, not alot, but some. the illuminaty device is for 8psk-turbo-fec and we all know who uses that ? DTH providers, not truefta feeds.

unfortunatly I dont think pansat has any intrest in getting dvb-s2 working at all ever.

Exactly, that's why the one at the website and on ebay I am seeing is pretty much targeted to only 1 market.

I am glad this is cleared up - I just bought a pansat 9200HD and was thinking of getting the
8psk tuner board. If for the most part is just used for hacking I don't need it. I did want dvb s-2 for true FTA in the future.

I should have known when the board was named "illuminutty" it was some bs hack dealer. Just like the FTA "black bird" boxes and the boxes named "Mutherzunderpantz" - Get free tv with your MUTHERZUNDERPAntZ LOL

laff, what?

Anyways, I thought the illuminati board only did Turbo 8psk. Does it do DVB-S2?

Either way, it's not worth 75% of what my 9200 cost.

I would guess its based on the same chipset the DN6000 tuner is, ie genpix and dvbtech use the same. if it does then it wont support dvb-s2 or trellis.

Even if a STB manufacturer had a DVB-S2 tuner, it would have not helped last summer when the feeds that were DVB-S2 in NA were also 4:2:2, none were made to receive 4.2.2 ....

As of now, go grab yourself a DVB-S2 PCI card if you want some EVENTUAL use, so far it has been mostly C-band too...
