any chance for a new dual tuner ota dongle?

  • Server Issues.

We are very aware that there have been system issues the past few days. In troubleshooting the system, it has been determined that the issue is at our provider and is hardware related. The provider was going to move us to a new server, however we are now told by the provider the issue is at the data center in St. Louis. They have offered to move us to a different datacenter on the East Coast or West Coast, however at this time we have declined the move to a different data center as it would affect the speed of connecting to about half our members.

We are waiting for more information from our provider, however we are trying to ride this out to stay in the same data center, so that when the server is fixed all users in the US will get the fastest connection possible.

If after some time the issue is not resolved we will be forced to move to another data center, if this happens there will be down time, as they will need to transfer everything to the new server and we will need to update the DNS and other settings for the new IP address of the new server. If we have to do this, the time it will take to move will be out of our hands.

We are going to try our best to weather through this, so we thank you in advance if you encounter any issues.

    Sorry for the issue!

It used to be part of the package and was part of their advertising, "our packages include locals and HD free for life". Then they decided to split out the locals so now you have a charge for the package (Top 200 in my case) along with $12 for locals. Package price didn't go down when the locals were split out. My plan is to drop locals.

Dish got tired of absorbing the cost for these out of control retrans agreements???

What actually happened was this: Dish added the $12 locals and then reduced the regular packages $7 leaving an actual increase in your billing of $5, which is a normal annual increase. You can't get hung up on the $12 increase without looking at the bottom line increase of $5.

Locals being split out occurred at the time of an annual price increase. But overall, the price of a package without locals after the increase was lower than the package price with locals before the increase

Before I order this (which I probably will anyway...I'm an engineer and have to see things for myself), will this solve the glitching problem that has been ongoing with the Joeys? I currently have the old single OTA adapter, and the OTA is unwatchable on the Joeys (mostly good on the Hopper 3).

Bot to get back to the subjectof OTA dongles. I ordered the ISr TV dual tuner one and will report in how it compares to my single tuner DISH version when used on an HWS>

Unlikely. That is a software problem.

SO- What are the chances Dish will change the software to no longer work with the AirTV dongle?

If I drop locals, will I still get guide information using the dongle? I do with local CW, KERA PBS HD, local subchannels, and those are not part of my local Dish package, so I'm wondering about CBS, NBC, ABC and FOX.

SatelliteGuys saves me money once more! Of course, I wouldn't have bought this if I hadn't read about it here...

Now that I bought one, I'd say the odds have increased significantly!!!

Yes

Maybe voyager6 has a Wally. He got his AirTV adapter today and is going to test it tonite.
I have two HWS. The AirTV adapter works as previously noted and works well. Channel scans had similar results to the Dish adapter but I did notice a slight increase in signal strength on some of the weaker channels. Too soon to tell if it is the AirTV adapter or just atmospherics last night. I'll keep monitoring.
