You can look at the coverage map at www.ses-americom.com
Click on Coverage and pick your satellite. Unless you have line-of-sight obstructions from your location you should be able to see AMC4. Check one of the site-calculator pages for your elevation angle to it.

For right now I'll say no. Reason I say that is you didn't mention how old the dish was. ExpressVu originally was KU Band (they were called DIsh Network Canada at the time) and were 24" around I think. The newer ExpressVu dishes are like a Dish500 and had 2 LNB's on them. Those dishes are too small.

can u catch amc 4 on normal bell express vu dish ...i have a viewsat extreme and a fortec classic please help

will the two recivers i have..a fortec classic and viewsat extreme work once i have replaced my dish,,tommorrow, will they work with amc-4ku

The Brand isn't necessarilly important, but the Type is. You want a Linear lnbf. There are 2 kinds of Linear lnbf's, one is a Standard Linear lnbf, and the other is a Universal Linear lnbf. Either one will work. You do not want a Circular lnbf to get AMC4.

If there is a manual setting in your receiver for this feature, turn the 22khz tone on when using Universal LNBs.

I'll wager you didn't get any beeps at all... (?)

Also, get the correct skew, and twist your LNB to match.
Make sure you have turned it the correct direction.
i am based in montreal canada and wonder if i am able to catch amck-ku...

the only beep i got was from the sat finder but on the box it did not reflect anything..i cannot turn the 22khz on coz it is automatically disabled when i select the universal lnb

I'd ditch the sat meter and bring the receiver and a small TV to the dish site. Its always easier when you use the receivers quality screen to aim. Also, remember that the elevation scales on some dishes are way off, so you might want to adjust your elevation up or down a bit from where its supposed to be.

i have tried literally every elavation humanly possibly..i think.. but no signal ...i really need help...is it possible to find the signal using my old expressvu box

no luck

:mad:i put the active transponder...bought a small tv...went up on the roof with tv and reciever but stil the signal is at 0..now i am dumbfounded and dont know what to do

Radibusa, what are the settings you have programmed into your receiver for the LNBF and dish setup?

If you are using a Ku universal LNBF, you should have the L.O. set for 9750/10750.

If you are using a Ku standard LNBF, set it for 10750.

Turn off DiSEqC and 22k options (if you are using a universal, the 22k option will be automatically on to switch from L.O. 1 to L.O. 2.) Remember that aiming for a Ku satellite is FAR more difficult than aiming a Dish Notwork or DirecTV dish. You have to use VERY small movements on the dish, stop and wait a bit to see if you get quality, then continue with another very small movement. You are looking for quality only, ignore strength.

Keep in mind also that the elevation scale engraved on many dishes can be off by as much as 10 degrees in either direction, so you will probably have to tweak elevation as well as azimuth.

Correction - North American LNB LO Frequencies are usually:

Universal LNB: Low 9750MHz / High 10600MHz

Standard LNB: 10750MHz

thank you guys for the continued help i will go back up on the roof again today and try again...just i find it odd i have not had luck with anything
