AL East 2010

A day after Clay Buchholz became the 11th player on the CURRENT Red Sox disabled list, Kevin Youkilis left tonight's game with an undisclosed foot/leg injury.

Some guy named Romero is now playing first base!

WTF is going on with all these Red Sox injuries??!!

FWIW, Andy Pettitte replaced Buchholz on the all-star roster.

What happens if a team has no HEALTHY player to go to the ASG ?

Anyone left for the Red Sox to send ?

I hear Hawkeye and Pierce might be available :D

Lester, Ortiz and Beltre are still healthy (at THIS moment ), and are headed to Anaheim.

Victor Martinez, Clay Buchholz and Dustin Pedroia are all out of the All-Star Game.

Youkilis is currently in the lead for the last spot, but that may be a moot point with tonight's injury.

I heard that Big Papi will be participating in the Home Run Derby.

Given how badly he was slumping in April, that's pretty remarkable.

So Ortiz made the ASG as the 3rd 1B or as a DH ?
Tex must have rightfully fallen off the pace, he was leading late and finally Morneau and Cabrera won out ... Ortiz ended up third ?

I don't know for sure if he was being serious, but a Baltimore announcer said a few days ago that Boston had started 81 different lineups in its foirst 81 games. That isn't as hard to do as it might seem, since the starting pitcher rotates.

Do they even count the Starting pitcher when they do things like that, the SP is ALWAYS changing.

81 different seems a bit odd, but having different line ups is nothing new, we are no longer in the days where the "Big Red Machine " rolled out the same lineup every day ..... (which of course they didn't, but darn close).

I know everyone's pissed about LeBron, but does anyone else find it ridiculous that the Yankee's are going to get Cliff Lee?

New York Yankees near trade for Seattle Mariners' Cliff Lee, source says - ESPN New York

I find it ridiculous, if Seattle's dumb enough to trade with them.

Supposedly 6 months ago the yankees emptied thier farm of prospects when the Granderson thing went down, now suddenly they have all these great prospects to trade for Lee ..... Unbelievable.

That said, how often has someone the yankees traded, turned out to be a worthwhile player ?

Austin Jackson is looking great at the moment and I bet they regret trading him.

If you look back on the trades they make , they trade people that don't turn out for studs, all because they can AFFORD to.

IF I were Seattle, I'd not even consider it.

Red Sox beat Blue Jays, 3-2

Dice K carried a shutout and a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh, and had thrown only 86 pitches, which maye be a six inning record low for him. To that point he had given up just three singles, a double and no walks.

Then, in the seventh, the first pitch he throws is hit for a single and the second for a homer and he gets yanked. Hard to imagine a manager giving up on a starter so fast after he had pitched so well and so economically up to that point.

Going into the All-Star Break, the Red Sox are the highest-scoring team in baseball- no team has scored more runs.

I said that signing Beltre would be a stroke of genius- so far, he's proven me right.

From ESPN.com:

Boston lost All-Star third baseman Adrian Beltre in the sixth with a strained left hamstring. Bill Hall moved from second to third and Eric Patterson replaced Beltre in the lineup.

Beltre, who is on the American League roster for Tuesday's All-Star Game, said he'd be cautious about playing in Anaheim.

If I don't feel good I won't play," Beltre said. "I don't want to screw up my season for a couple of at-bats in an exhibition game.

There's reports that Buck Showalter will take over as Orioles skipper as soon as this weekend......

Beltre reports he's fine and will play.
