AL CENTRAL

Porcello throws another gem. He isn't going anywhere when Bonderman returns. Perry also was outstanding in 2 innings of relief.

The threat of losing your spot in the rotation to Bonderman should keep Galarraga and Willis sufficiently motivated to pitch well.

Note to Rodney bashers - He has now pitched the 9th inning, 17 times this season, and has yet to blow a lead. They haven't all been pretty, but he has done his job.

Winning sure is easy when you have pitching like we have right now.

The Tiger's now sit on top of the American League.

Tigers bats have gone cold yet again..a 15 win team comes in and silences the bats.

Granderson is now batting .240, and i really hate Anderson leading off, he does not get on enough....Dontrelle pitched great today but as usual the bullpen is warm and Leyland leaves him on too long..

Either the AL Central will get a lot closer or the Tigers will pull away farther or one will take 2 out of the three and gain a game !

Tigers and KC start a 3 game series today.

KC is 3 GB at the moment, also don't want to forget about the Twins, they are only 3.5 back and they start a 4 game series with the Red Sox

Nice performance by Willis again. The problem is that we got out-pitched the last two days.

Bring on KC!

Careful what you wish for big boy! These aren't your Daddy's Royals.

Is Zach Grienke due to pitch during this series? Seriously, this kid has to be the best kept secret in the entire league. We're how many games into the season and he still has a 0.82 ERA with a 7-1 record?! HOLY COW!!!

Can't duck them, they're on the schedule. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.

Grienke is off to one of the best starts in MLB history, But we're at the top of our rotation - Verlander, Jackson, and Porcello, all who are averaging an ERA of 2.00 or less in their last 4 starts.

LF/DH Carlos Guillen (left shoulder inflammation) went on the 15-day disabled list May 5.

DH/OF Marcus Thames (left rib cage muscle strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 19. He is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Class AAA Toledo on May 25.

RHP Jeremy Bonderman (right rib removal, blood clot surgery in June 2008) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 30. He began a rehab assignment with Class A West Michigan on May 16. He pitched for Class AAA Toledo on May 21.

It will be nice to have these guys back soon. Thames will get about 30 AB's before being recalled to Detroit. Tiger's are taking their time with Guillen, his replacements (Rayburn and Thomas) have been filling the hole beautifully. Bonderman got roughed up for 5 runs in the sixth inning of his last start. He may be down for 2 more starts before being recalled.

Grienke matches up with Jackson on Tuesday.

Yea I am more interested in his velocity then his start. at 90 mph he is not even close to being a winning pitcher, he really only has two pitches

However if he is hitting 93-95 he becomes very very tough to hit and his slider is an out pitch with two strikes 95% of the time. He was working on a change a few seasons ago, but with last season cut short I am sure that is the last thing he was working on..

What you say is true. Bondy has only been able to put together only halves of a good season, which may bode for well for us this season. His velocity has been in the low 90's, but I'm sure that will increase as he pitches more. He might be a two-pitch guy, but his slider is as good as anybody's I've seen before he went under surgery. I still want him back in the Tiger's rotation.

Speaking of the Tigers....check out the article on Dontrelle....VERY GOOD read.

Game 1 is done with ....
Not to worried about what we wish for anyways, KC's on the schedule, like Paul said the Tigers are pitching well for the most part (Starters).

btw,
Game one goes to the Tigers 13-1 ....
Grenke is pitching lights out, but so are some of the Tiger Pitchers, have you looked at Verlander's numbers of late ... last week he was like .39 over his last 4 starts.
Today he gave up a run, his ERA will go UP

OK, who actually PLAYS sports?

Shaq once had a video game of his own- a fighting game!
