AL CENTRAL

I guess it helps when you don't have the expectations as high.

I don't know where your getting that ...
Two years ago with the pitching staff they had they were expected to be very good and they were ... the next year they were not very good.
Now they have upgraded the staff and what, they are NOT suppose to be any good ?

Personally, if I thought they would STINK, I probably would not watch them much.
I think and EXPECT themto be in the THICK of things come August/Oct.
Thats not saying the will win the WS.
You don't have to win it all to have a very good and worthwhile year.

fwiw, No Expectation on them this year .... is that why Ordonez can't hit ?
Wouldn't it be the other way around ?
He won the batting title a few years back when expectations were huge.

HD, What has Wedge done to piss off this umpiring crew? I have never seen a crew so biased against a team in my life! This was plain AWFUL today.

Biased? How so..Wood should have been tossed, instead they let it elevate.
Indians Stink this year, plain and simple. Lets start picking apart the team instead of the umps..

Paul, if the Detroit Lions played baseball, they could win more games than the Cleveland Indians.

If the Lion's played baseball they wouldn't hit water from a boat, let alone a baseball. Pick a sport, a game, Tiddliewinks? That team would have lost. Rock, paper, scissors? Lose! Coin flips? Lose!

Just once I would like to be wrong about the Lion's......

If the tiger's continue following form, they will get swept by Texas this week, and then sweep the following series. C'mon guys, how about we break the 4 games over .500 barrier? The starting pitching is past the soft spot (Galarraga), and we're crushing the ball. This is an opportunity to put some real distance between us and most of the division.

Unfortunately, it seems that when the Tigers get about 4 games over .500 they go out and lose about 4-5 in a row ....

No blood yesterday as the Tribe had an off day. Thank God! :)

I hope they all hit the pool hall yesterday and got tanked together so that they come out loose and ready to play tonight.

HD, if you've not seen it yet, pay attention to the "new" Kaufman Stadium. It has been completely renovated and it looks gorgeous. The same dude who spear-headed our renovations a few years back here at the "Big A" took charge there in K.C.

I'll have to pay particular attention, starting tonight. Thanks for the heads-up.

I thought that stadium looked different last time the Tiger's played there. I wasn't sure, because I generally don't pay hard attention when we play KC. thanks for that heads-up. It does look nice, but then I liked before also.

Yes! that stadium always was a postcard place. America's Heartland 100%. But, like Angel Stadium a decade ago, it needed lots of work and a totally new park was out of the question. The Angels (and now the Royals) found a team that devopled an entirely new edifice and rebuilt it within the existing one a section at a time so games could still be played during the season. What a fabulous idea...and outcome!

The outfield area @ Kauffman is a site to behold. That huge, empty area in center field with all the fountains is now a developed, bustling walk around and dine area with all kinds of attractions. They really did it up beautifully there and I applaud all their efforts.

To me, it's so cool to look beyond the outfield and see the trucks, etc tooling by on the interstate as the game goes on. You're watching the actual criss-crossing of America there! It's always been quite a sight for me.

KCK,
when Ned Martin (the late, great Red Sox play-by-play man) was around, he used to say that the Big A was his favorite stadium. He would go on and on about how beautiful it was.

When the Rams moved in and they put those ugly seats in the outfield, you would have thought Ned lost a member of his family. That's how heartbroken he was about the montrosity the Big A had become.

I'm sure that Ned is now smilin' down from that broadcast booth in the sky, to see that his once favorite road ballpark is back looking beautiful once again! :up

And speaking of being able to see cars on the freeway in the distance, that's what I remember about the Big A in the '70's when I'd watch Sox-Angels games. Well that AND the big "A" scoreboard out in leftfield. :D

Yup, those "football seats" were the first to come down when reconstruction of the Big A began. I have to admit, Dodger Stadium is THE place to watch a day game or a night game at sunset time. Just breathtaking. However, they did alright when they remodeled Angel Stadium.

I love what they did in KC! It looks real nice....I wish MLB teams would renovate instead of build new more often.
