AL CENTRAL

Dontrell Willis, solid tonight! retired 16 in a row at one point, more important walked only three through 7 innings of work. Relief staff doing a great job as well

Willis gave up only 1 hit over 6 2/3rds :up

Way to go Dontrelle !!!

Believe me, NO ONE wanted him to do well MORE than the Marlin fans! He is still a fan favorite down here and thought about often. They mentioned how he was doing all throught the TV AND Radio broadcast of the Marlins game.

You thought HE was throwing a perfect game as much as they talked about him last night....good to hear...!

Ok, Hell has officially frozen over and pigs are flying. Seriously, can this season get any more unexplainable?!

What are you talking about....Dontrelle has ALWAYS had the stuff....lately, his issues have been between the ears. He had some solid years AFTER his rookie year with some horrible Marlins teams.

HD, if you've not seen it yet, pay attention to the "new" Kaufman Stadium. It has been completely renovated and it looks gorgeous. The same dude who spear-headed our renovations a few years back here at the "Big A" took charge there in K.C.

Speaking of Kansas City and Nostalgia... If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend picking up the book "The Soul of Baseball: A Road Trip Through Buck O'Neil's America". IMO, this book should be required reading for any die-hard baseball fan. A true classic.

Come on, Paul...put some of that Motown Mojo on these damned Rangers and sweep the hell outta them, will ya please?;)

The D-train winning his first game in Detroit! How's that for Motown mojo?:) Hated to turn the game off, he was pitching so well. the curve looked like it was rolling off a table. Now lets see if he can put a 4-5 game string together. As I always say, It's all about pitching, and right now the Tigers have it. A well pitching Willis would go along way towards winning this division. 5 games over .500, I don't believe we we're even close to that last season.

KCK, I'll try to keep the Motown mojo going! But I do have to use a little for the Wings. I used a little for OT last night.:D

Salsa, I haven't seen him pitch much, can't say I watched a lot of Marlin's games, and he hasn't pitched much in Detroit either. My question is this: Has he always been so hyper-active on the mound? He acts like a watered down version of Mark Fidyrych. He seems to have a lot nervous actions and reactions while pitching. Is this just the way he is?

Verlander's up tonight. He has yet to lose this month, so this one will be like shooting fish in a barrell!

I understand. We have a helluva lot more baseball left than anyone has hockey.;)

We finish this series with Verlander and Jackson throwing the last two games. Look at their numbers. Ignore the W-L record, these two have been virtually untouchable for the last month. I like our chances, especially when you add in the way we are hitting of late. I don't think I'll need much Motown mojo to help the Tiger's the next two nights.:D

J. V. Pitching well tonight ....
No hits thru 4 and then it fell apart in the 5th which is what has previously hurt him.

He thru over 40 pitches in the 5th.
He's over 100 pitches in the 5th...
To his credit, he came back out and got them on an easy 1-2-3 the next inning.

1-1 end of 5

Wilkin Ramirez playing for Ordonez in his first major league game, struck out his first two times up ... got his first MLB hit .... A no doubter HR to CF in his third AB.

Tigers lined into a Triple Play tonight in an earlier inning.

Tigers putting together a nice rally for J.V. to work with, now up 4-1 :)

Jimbo

J.V. is done ...
6 innings, 1 run, 3 hits, 2 walks, 8 K's 114 pitches.

J.V. leaves leading 5-1

Lyons comes in and gives up a FIRST pitch HR .... 5-2

It's no wonder J. V. can't sleep at night. :D
