Delmon Young hopes to reach deal in hate-crime case

Full Story

"Detroit Tigers outfielder Delmon Young is trying to work out a deal with prosecutors in his hate-crime harassment case, his lawyer said Thursday.

Young appeared briefly in a Manhattan court Thursday for an update on the misdemeanor case. He's accused of yelling anti-Jewish epithets at a group of tourists, tussling with them and tackling one to the ground in April, when the Tigers were in town to play the New York Yankees."

What ever happened to the good old days when ballplayers (and Presidents) could get drunk, chase skirts, yell racial and sexual epithets, and engage in fistcuffs without every blow (those above and below the sheets) being covered by TMZ? Heck, we used to encourage Babe Ruth's gallivanting ways, provided funding and subsequent cover up for JFKs vacations to Debauchery Land, and laughed at the bumbling exploits of Leon Spinks when we got mugged outside of a Detroit bar and later found stripped naken with his fur coat, bling and dentures missing. Anyway, I'm being facetious and I am not dismissing Young's behavior...just that this incident doesn't rate the time and effort to report and prosecute.

In this case, there was some name-calling and someone got scratched when they were pushed to the ground. The drunk people then went their separate ways. Much ado about nothing if you read the entire story. Seriously, perhaps we should buy this 32-year old "victim" a bib and a bag of diapers. Big Baby! He basically wants money for having his feelings hurt.

Nice win for the Tigers, good to,see the pitching tonight

Just arrived home...nice to see the Cabrera-Fielder show continue their hitting ways; three hits by Miguel and long HR by Prince (should have had a 2nd, but you don't see many 432 foot doubles...probably a HR in 28 other parks). Additionally, great pitching by the rookie, which is ever more impressive IMO. Elsewhere, Chi-Ana is tied-up in the 9th as are the Twins-Bosox in the 10th inning.

Go Tigers!

I would think it may happen....we're going to get a decent storm, but may not be a all niter....but we need the rain though
