AL Central 2010

But did Matt Garza deserve the player of the night honor around the baseball world?

Garza's no-hitter was the 5th of the season and something that has been done 268 times since 1875...
anytime a pitcher does that he'll be player of the night...unless something crazy happens othewise

Meanwhile, Joe Mauer went 5 for 5 with 7 RBI's! That is only the 44th time that stat line has ever been accomplished.

3rd catcher ever to have 5 hits and at least 7 RBI's

Something to think about.

Yes, Matt deserved the Player of the Night award.

Mauer is a hitting machine, for him to get 3-4 hits a night is amazing, but something every tTwins fan come to expect from him, not 5-5, but to be very consistant and come thru with hits when the team needs it.

Mauer and Cabrera are two of the best hitters in baseball, also both can play the field equally well.

Since when does an UMPIRE not allow the Manager to talk/yell at the other umpire ?

Leyland goes out to discuss a play that the runner was thrown out and called safe (by about a foot) and the other UMP comes in and stand in front of the guy Leyland wants to talk to guarding him.

Thats BS .... If Leyland gets suspended for touching an UMP, thats just WRONG

The ump said Leyland spit on him. Leyland said it was a sunflower seed and it was an accident.

Haha weird trivia both near no hitters for the Tigers this year were ruined by guys named Joyce (Jim and Matt).

Theres a 6 degrees of separation between Joyce, and Edwin Jackson and Scherzer I heard this morning, it was really good too.

I'll see if I can find it somewhere.

Ok, here we go :

Keep in mind that Both Garza and Scherzer had No Hitters going into the 6th inning.

The Rays once had Edwin Jackson, who was traded for Matt Joyce (Tigers).
Then E. Jackson is traded for Max Scherzer (Arizona).
Then E. Jackson No Hit's the Rays.
Then Matt Joyce broke up Max Scherzer's No Hit bid.

WEEI's Dennis and Callahan to be simulcast live on NESN

Don't look now, but Steve Lavin is making St. John's relevant again
