Aborted Video Card install screwed up Windows...help

I'll probably be doing the nuclear option on my main machine this weekend. Been putting it off too long.

I know some people like yourself have no problem with reformatting and reinstalling everything once in a while. I always look at it as bulldozing a house and rebuilding it from the ground up to fix a crack in the ceiling, lay down new carpeting and leaky faucet in the spare bath! :)

See ya

Welcome to Windows...

:)

Re-imaging is a little less severe than the "nuclear" option...lol. When my wife and kids hose up their machines when I am out of town, they all know how to reimage the drive.

You got me to thinking. Even with XP I still had to reinstall the machine a few times, but with Vista x64 I think this is the longest I have ever gone without having to reinstall a machine. About 18 months on my longest computer, installed when vista first came out. Maybe the signed device driver theory really does work... Never had to "repair" it either which is something I seem to have to do with XP on a regular basis.

I got lucky with xp and 98 in that there was a time with each where they both ran for nearly 2 years without having to be reformatted. So far vista is treating me incredibly well and even better than xp has with only one system lock up.

Tony,

If you haven't already installed your drivers. I would go to Omega's website and download their ATI drivers. They are much better than ATI's own drivers.
