Hey folks new to this, but not new to dish.. Been a Dish guy since they started. Got a question, been Googling a problem I have found that just started about a week ago. Got a 722, when I punch up our local ABC affilate on HD and Dolbey 5.2. I get a sound like they are talking in a wind storm. I go to the SD alternate and its find. Now its wierd since it does not happen when commercials come on, just when the network feed comes back. It does not happen on any other channel, which tends for me to believe its a Network Issue. Anyone run into this???

Thanks and this is a GREAT FORUM...

Oh, yeah. I think they are having issues with the center channel which carries dialog. Many times after coming back from commercial, I can here background and L/R sounds, but almost no dialog. You don't get that on SD because they are only broadcast L/R channels, but HD is usually DD 5.1. What astounds me is that sometimes let it go on for 10 minutes or more like no one was at the helm.

I noticed this on Saturday during the 3:30 college game then later on during the OSU/Penn game. The next day, over a buddies house to watch some NFL he asked if I had satellite. I told him dish and he commented about the ABC sound issues and he has cable. Sounds like a network issue.

This has been happening on our ABC station as well. But last week, the station started running a graphic blaming the sound problems on DISH and Direct! Said there was something wrong at the uplink facility or something.

BTW, what's the extra .1 channel in Dolby 5.2? ;) Stereo subwoofers?

I have noticed the same issue last night on ABC. My wife was watching "Dancing with the Stars" on ABC and during the program (not the commercials), it sounded as though my subwoofer gain was cranked all the way up. As in your description, it sounded as if the dialogue was heard behind wind noise. After I shut off the sub, it sounded fine. AFTER the show ended, I turned the sub back on, and the audio was fine.

As with a lot of others on this forum, I am getting random periods of audio dropouts and other small glitches with my 722. Some recorded DVR programs are starting to skip frames, along side the audio issues.

Frustrating...

Same thing happened again last night, same program dancing with the Stars. I don't know if calling Dish is going to do anything, thanks for the replies. Now I know we are not alone. Anyone know what we can do about it?? If anything?

Slingbox control of 622/722?
