A&E HD Widescreen?

Not that I agree with ANY advertised HD station showing sd content AT ALL, but i'd rather that a&e HD show sd content in 4:3 than pull the same crap that tnt HD does and stretch the darn image all out and make it look terrible.

I agree. No stretch-o-vision please.

The SD picture is far superior to the SD picture on non-HD channels. This is what SD "should" look like. Hopefully, as more people get HD and see the difference they will force E* to improve the picture quality on SD channels.

Also folks, please remember that just because it is a pillarboxed show does NOT automatically mean it is not high definition! Like "Northern Exposure" on Universal TV, it could have been remastered from the original film to be HD video. Film (even the cheap stuff) has much more resolution than the best HD sets.

See ya

I was referring to shows like the Sopranos and 24. They seem to be in HD (HD Lite?) but are shown in the 4:3 format. I'm sure there are others as well.

New HDTV...not so hot picture!

Dish 1000.2 issue (might be me)
