942 Help, Smart Card

watching TV tonight and the following message comes out of nowhere

"You are attempting to use a version of smartcard that is incompatible with this receiver."

I've never touched the "smart card" or anything like that ...

now all I get is that error message when I turn on the receiver....tried unplugging and rebooting, etc. ....

any ideas?
 
Update

I called tech support. They took me through the troubleshooting steps, determined I needed a new 942. Said they would be shipping one out ASAP.....decided to plug the "broken" 942 in tonight ...and it booted up and works fine....so who knows ...
