My 942 is losing its EPG data.

Each night for the past 3 nights, when I hit guide there is no EPG info past midnight. Then it gives me a message that my program information is outdated and do I wish to retrieve program information from the satellite now.

If I say yes, then I have a full 9-10 day EPG to search. That is, until I fire it back up the next night and the info is missing past midnight again.

Anyone else seeing anything similar?

I tried a hard power off last night, but it is doing the same thing tonight.

Do this... (you might have a sleeping tuner 2 that we need to wake up)

Hit Pip, then swap then PIP again.

That wakes up the second tuner and the guide data should download in the backround. :)

Did it. Nothing happened on the screen, except for the Piping and Swapping ... which I had forgotten to try yet. So I'm glad you reminded me.

I had twice recorded one channel while watching another, so I was assuming that both tuners were working. But this is another confirmation of that.

Thanks for the tip. Perhaps it will do some good.

If that did not work unplug the 942 for 30 seconds then plug it in. As soon as it boots go into system setup and do a check switch, sometimes the 942 can forget the switch matrix even though it is correctly listed on the screen.

That is exactly what I did last night.

Just got off the phone with Dish Tech Support and they had me do pretty much the same thing again, except instead of unplugging it, they had me hold down the front panel power switch for 10 seconds. Then run a Check Switch (5th one I've run).

They documented all that I did, plus my signal strengths, so that if it reoccurs, they can route me to Advanced Tech Support with all of the documentation.

They said there are rare cases of 942's having defective memory that exhibit this problem.
