4K Events Discussion Thread

Watching the Valpo Purdue game recorded just today in 4K. Getting lots of pixelation and green video that fills the bottom third of the screen. Anyone else seeing this? I gave up at halftime.

Glad I recorded the game on the non-4k channel so I can at least watch it.

Thanks

I note that as of today, 12-8, channel 540 has been removed. I’m not sure what is going on but for now our 4K sports has been removed.

Yes I recorded the game as well. Went back to watch it and it had the green screen and pixelation as well. Just deleted off my dvr. Hopefully they can fix the issue soon. I thought it was my receiver.

I’m sure it was the source but for right now it’s a moot point. The channel doesn’t even exist today.

540 may now be a part of the TP carousel that moves RSNs around all over the place and on and off.

No need to leave it on an idle TP for the 6 days between shows.

That makes me wonder if Dish will start carrying some part-time channels that disappear the day of a 4K event. Still, there should be some way to leave the guide data for the 4K event channel up full-time, so that upcoming events could be looked up more than a day in advance.

Upon closer inspection of the uplink report, it looks like the 4K channel was removed to make room for Fairbanks and Juneau, Alaska locals on CONUS.

If so, maybe this gives some options for those who would want to "move" to get west coast (really far west) network feeds. :)

Are the Alaska locals CONUS to the Lower 48?

It is a Conus beam to the lower 48. It doesn’t even reach Alaska. Alaska is served by spot beams on 119. So, good luck “moving” to Alaska. You will get nothing. Who knows why Dish decided to put those channels on the conus beam. I can say with reasonable logic that those channels will leave that transponder soon.

Completely agree if not spotbeam then they are no good for Alaska.

Maybe they have issues with the spots on 119 and have put up the SD channels on 110 until they can come up with a remedy.

Don't know if this was in response to me, but my HD locals were coming from TP 31 on 110º.
I see that now, Anchorage is on 119 and Fairbanks and Juneau are on 110. All on spotbeams. Maybe they have an issue with 110 spotbeam 46/47...

Looking at that uplink report from early this morning, it appears that there are a couple of Texas locals that were on spotbeam and moved to ConUS transponders, and in the process 10 HD PPV movie channels were taken down. But only taken down on Western Arc. Eastern Arc still has those channels.
