Not at all. Dish does not have a 4K contract with CBS and the probability that CBS will even have the game available in 4K is slim....Does that mean there's a chance?

You are correct, that game looked 1080i not 4K... In fact, I had recorded the game and the recording is, indeed, 1080i. That said, the Arizona St at Utah game a few weeks back looks incredible. I have that one saved as an example of what things could be...I watched part of the 4K college game yesterday and no, THAT 4k does not live up to the hype. A 1080P blu-ray would blow the PQ of that broadcast away. It was very disappointing, with visible compression artifacts upon close inspection on my 65" Vizio P.
Unless satellite providers are able to make gigantic leaps in the bandwidth they can provide from their birds, they will be supplanted in the coming decade by the proliferation of 5G wireless streaming that will offer near 4K HDR blu-ray quality picture.
As someone who watches a lot of 4K netflix, amazon and blu-rays - I was expecting a little more.
I just upgraded to 4k a couple of weeks ago.
Got a Sony Bravia 65 in 4k tv.
Really pleased with the picture quality.
I have caught a few of the last 3- 4k events.
Got to see a little of yesterdays game on ch 540. I kept flipping back and forth between the Foxsports 1 broadcast and the 4k broadcast.
Didnt notice much change except on zoomed out shots. Looking at the grass it appeared more clearer, and the players more detailed on the 4k version.
If people are going to invest in 4k and for 4k to really kick off, they are going to have to make sure they are broadcasting in True 4k.
Remember the days when Hd started out.
There was no Hd light in the beginning especially in the Voom days.
After Voom went away it seemed picture quality got downsized.
Just hope 4k doesnt follow in the steps of HD.
I guess we really had to connect the dots for him.Not at all. Dish does not have a 4K contract with CBS and the probability that CBS will even have the game available in 4K is slim....
Most boards for the past 10 yrs have had wide enuff bandwidth to handle 4k. Now the cameras only fairly recently have been up to it. Some transmission and uplinks have only been upgraded.Well, you know , 4K cameras and wiring that can handle the rather large information carried on them. The TV truck must also be equipped with control boards and monitors that can work with 4K along with transmission gear that can get the signal to the system satellite.
Most 4K TVs upscale to try to fill in the pixels between SD or HD sources to look 4K.
...if you have a set that has good upscaling , you will probably see no difference between the game on 150 or 540. Even if the set didn't upscale you would have to have a screen larger than 55 inches and sit closer than 6 feet to the screen to tell the difference between HD and 4K.
Dish has more often than not delivered sub-4k viewing on ch 540.
I've been able to watch the Ch 540 4k and also that provided straight from the satellite feed at the same time. There has been a noticeable difference to my eyes. I can't measure anything off Dish, so it is my opinion. Is it Dish or is it the source? No one yet has answered that question. Unless someone had viewed both the source and the Dish broadcast side by side on the same display it is only opinion IMHO.
I have recorded the same game on 540 and regular channel for comparison.I strongly disagree with this. Depth of color and resolution, if actually transmitted in the 4k signal will be noticable. It is to me at least.
Dish has more often than not delivered sub-4k viewing on ch 540. Many remind me of how HD looked prior to the "HD-lite" afliction; that is a, damn good looking picture but short of stunning.
If this game looks as good as the last Pac 12 game, AZ ST. at Utah, we are in for a treat.Hurrah! A PAC-12 game in 4K this Friday, and it should be a good one. My new set (LG OLED) seems to upscale very well but what is on 540 definitely looks better to these tired old eyes. Wish there were more on dish than one game a week.
