Can someone explain to me why, I need an install to upgrade a 508 to a 211. So now I have to take a day off work to watch an installer un do a coax cable and reattach it to the 211 and hook HDMI cable from 211 to tv. I would be better off just buying one outright with the money I would lose with a day off work.

No, I allready have a Dish 1000.2 plus I have two 722's, one 622,two 211's, and two 508's. Which all but one 622 I installed myself.

I think I would just buy one from the Dishstore.net and install myself, they have some great prices on the 211k right now, check it out here:

Thank's Bob, just ordered two 211's from Dishstore.net. Still didn't cost me as much as it would taking a day off work, plus no 24 month contract.

I just upgraded a 508 to a 211 and when they said that it would be scheduled for the install, I said NO, and told them to send me the 211 and I would install myself. They said OK and it was on my doorstep in a couple days.

Dish is frustrating because it depends on who you get on the phone. True, in the past, I have had to hang up and call back to get a CSR who knew how to be a CSR...

Oh, and they tried to get me to send my 508 back to them. Problem is I own it - not leased. Had to say NO again...

I even asked for retention (loyalty), and they told me the same thing. She stated that because it was an HD receiver that it required an install and she could not overide it.
