2018-19 NCAA Football Thread

Being a Clemson fan and from the upstate of SC I thought our chances were good going in last night but I didn't see that big of a victory coming. I think America saw what those of us in S.C have been seeing for months. Lawrence, and Clemson, are the real deal. What you see on TV is what you get too... Dabo is a class act and he recruits kids who are class acts. All of these players weren't superstars either. Hunter Renfrow was a 5 foot 10 inch tall 150lb high school kid when he walked on at Clemson. The placekicker Greg Huegel is an All American now but most people have forgotten he was a walk-on who almost didn't even try out for the team. He got his job when their highly recruited kicker got dismissed from the team. He beat out Alex Spence, who was also a decorated kicker coming out of high school. He kept the job all four years, minus the games last year he missed because of his knee injury. There was a great story in the media here last week about the "Renfrow Way"- kids are turning down full rides to walk on at Clemson. They're doing it because they want to play for Dabo and know that the program genuinely rewards hard work and dedication.

Some interesting temperatures in Alabama this morning. :D

I enjoyed watching the game with no team to really root for ...

Usually when I sit down to watch 2 teams that are not mine own teams, I start to pull for one team or the other.

I respect Saban and Bama ... that said I ended up sorta pulling for Clemson in the 1st half ....
Clemson had a much better Defense ... I thought Bama would have been able to hang with them, but it didn't happen when Bama's O Line couldn't handle Clemsons ... Clemson really won both sides of the line play.

Like I mentioned earlier, Bama could run the ball and they should have continued in the 1st half, but I think they wanted to match score for score, instead of playing D.

Second half was over by the half way point of the 3rd.

I listen to ESPNU a lot and someone called and asked if Bama "Didn't want to be there". The same excuse people gave Georgia this year and Aurbun last year.

They had fun with it. One guy said it was the SEC excuse when their big teams lose.

When Ohio State gets their buts kicked I own it. No excuse.

I’m sure Bama didn’t want to be there.

For the record, I live in Ohio and I’ve heard several Michigan fans say the same thing this year, as well as a few Buckeye fans while we watched the Rose Bowl.

Of course they did. The guy called in poking fun.

Your damn right Ohio State didn't want to be there but at least they played tough. They wanted a playoff spot.

I don't believe I heard that annoying sec, sec, sec chant this past monday .... hmmm.

Buckeyes and Bama would have been a better game this year.
It would have come down to how well the Buckeye D played (once again) they clearly could go toe to toe Offensively ...

Ohio state should be ranked ahead of them? Based on?

OSU also got blown out, by Purdue. So one loss each, one to the national champ and undefeated Clemson. One to a 7 loss Purdue team.

Not really a surprise.

Yeah, if anything I'd put them at #4 behind a #3 Notre Dame, with Oklahoma at #5.
