2013 NFL Playoffs/Super Bowl

Yea its on the table after the season is over, the owners meetings, talking about as many as 16.I personally think its a terrible idea. The NFL simply sees more $$$$$

Actually what I heard will not make them any more money as the division winners will all have byes the first week so there won't be anymore games played than there are now.

I agree. He is a Super Bowl winner after all and MVP.

IF I am not mistaken, didn't Brees has also win an MVP AND a Super Bowl as well...how is Rogers better the Brees IF they both have accomplished the same thing? IF ANYTHING, Brees has posted better numbers than Rogers.

I completely separate "great" and "elite".

i agree that rogers is the better QB. more physically talented than brees, but drew has the better/larger body of work. i'd take either one in a sec!! last time i saw an arm like that it was marino's only rogers has the legs too.

Yeah if I had a team that needed a QB I would take either but Rodgers would be before him.

He might only be better because he is younger and fresher legs. I personally think Brees has one MORE with less.

i'm really only talking about physical attributes ;) . hey it's ok you can't go wrong with either one can you? imagine what the fins would look like today had we taken brees. idiots... IDIOTS!!!

Moved posts not related to the playoffs into the off season thread including rg3 posts since the skins are now part of the off season ;)

Agreed...and when you have a VERY capable backup like Cousins, why risk the franchise QB for 1 1st round playoff game. You KNOW the player wants to player, even if his throwing arm was hanging by a thin piece of skin.

Shana-douche also made the mistake by NOT activating his 3rd QB.

I agree. I mean on one or two plays before RGIII got hurt he was limping as he was running. He couldnt even move. Cousins should have been put in although whose to say that the Seahawks wouldnt have won with Cousins in there? The Seahawks have been hot right now and it wouldnt shock me that they play in the NFC Title game.

On sports radio today, they said that expanding the NFL playoffs is being discussed. Anyone else heard that?

Bad idea, i think.

I agree, Very BAD idea ...

Soon it will be like the NHL where half the teams get in ...
Baseball will be there too if they don't put a stop to the increasing playoff format .... compliments of Mr. "I'll do anything I can to ruin the sport" Selig.

They should leave it alone. Go to 18 games and get rid of the 2 preseason games and leave the playoffs alone. They will water down the playoffs if they expand them.

I'll take it a step further. In the "elite" category, in this order:

Brady...by a good distance.
Rothelisberger
Eli
Peyton

Then in the "great" category:

Brees
Rogers

I put Rogers in elite category and Big Ben in the great category. Remember when Big Ben went to Super Bowl 40 he had a lousy game. And lets face it, hes done some dumb things. Remember he got into that motorcycle accident in the summer of 06? I dont think he was wearing his helmet either.

I'd take more football/more teams in playoffs. ideal system IMO is teams win to expand the playoff format, if teams on the bubble are sitting at 10 wins then it expands and only the 1st seed gets a bye or something. A permanently expanded playoff allowing 18 teams or something in and leading to 7-9 teams regularly getting in is less than ideal.

This isn't covered in the CBA at all though, would need NFLPA buy in. Likely in the form of dropping 2 preseason games and an expanded playoffs if they were to happen would be used to recoup the revenue. NFLPA will already be scrambling to save face if 2 preseason games disappear next year - something the owners can do on their own per the CBA. Salary cap is going to be relatively flat for a 3rd straight year, it would go down if 64 games disappeared.

We'll see if that's how they play that trump card though, would rather see them go to 18 games than to expand the playoffs.

Straight from nfl.com http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...er-goodell-nfl-considering-expanding-playoffs

It's always about the money when it comes to the NFL.That's why they started a full Thursday night schedule.

Thanks for sharing and very interesting and Goodell needs to leave things alone :) The NFL = No Fun League :D :)

Agreed.

How does Ben getting in his motorcycle accident have ANYTHING at all with whether or not he's an Elite/Great QB on the field ?

Anybody willing to predict a San Francisco 49ers-Seattle Seahawks NFC Championship Final(will both teams get past Green Bay & Atlanta)?

Obviously anything is possible, but I like Seattle and Green Bay this weekend.

Jimbo, what I mean is that if you want to be an elite qb and be one of the greats, why do you risk your life like that? I have no problem with him riding a motorcycle. The problem is that I dont think he was wearing a helmet. God forbid, his career could have been cut short. If you want to be one of the best, wouldnt you be a bit more careful?
